Leading trainer B Suresh and the talented saddle artiste Yash Narredu dominated the eight-event card on Friday. The former recorded a fine hat-trick, winning the first three races, while Yash maintained his winning streak at Guindy recording another treble on Saturday.

Second in demand at the betting ring, Eclipse Award piloted by apprentice jockey Koshi Kumar edged out the Rupa-trained Western Girl in a thrilling finish in the opening event, the Adyar Handicap run over a sprint. The winner despite drifting out at a crucial stage of the race hung on gamely to beat the `Girl' close home, while the favourite Midnight Sparkle finished a `neck' behind the runner-up.

In the next event, the lower division of the Be My Guest Handicap, Suresh led in the 15 to one long shot Silk Stuff who shocked the followers of form, producing a good turn of foot in the final furlong to beat Falconbridge, another long shot, while the half-money favourite Amazing Joy from Vijay Singh's yard partnered by leading pro Umesh failed to display her true potential and finished a tame third, much to the disappointment of her supporters who fancied her strongly to score in this mediocre set.

In the upper division of the event, Suresh in line for a treble brought off a successful gamble through Crown Drive, who made a winning debut to the delight of the Suresh camp, easily snuffing out the challenge of another Vijay Singh favourite Aarini, who in her attempt to make every post a winning one in the hands of Yash Narredu only managed to finish third behind the runner-up Juliet Rose who has improved and is likely to enter the winners' circle when saddled next. Crown Drive appears a goodtype of youngster and it will pay to follow him again next time out.

Yash Narredu opened his account through the strongly fancied Knotty One in the upper division of the Dancing Brave Handicap. The winner looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring and the Ramanathan trainee justified the confidence of his supporters romping home without really extending himself. Second in demand at the betting ring, Light The World followed the winner home ahead of Sheer Rocks who caught the eye while finishing on purposefully at end and is one for the notebook.

Back guiding the fortunes of Asio in the next event, the lower division of the Dancing Brave Handicap, Yash was ina spot of bother at the top of the straight, but the top performer cool as a cucumber bided his time before he packed punch on the second favourite from Deepesh's yard to gain the day. Relic Warrior gained the runner-up berth ahead of Danny's Girl, while the hot favourite All Stars raced in patches and finished down the field.

In line for a hat-trick, Yash astride the on-money favourite New Dimension in the VST Grandeur Trophy, the plum event run  over a sprint, produced his best, edging out the lesser fancied Pink Jasmine from Saddam Iqbal's yard and the Suresh-trained Soft Whisper in a rocking blanket finish. The favourite gained the day by the shortest of margins from Pink Jasmine, who in turn beat Soft Whisper by a `head'. The winner will benefit from this outing at a new centre and it will pay to follow New Dimension again next time out. Still I Rise from Fahad Khan's yard after failing to gain a favourable position early on in the race was not pushed by Umesh to make a race of it and he will prove to be a different proposition when saddled next.

The five to one shot Diamond And Pearls from Sebastian's yard piloted in determined fashion by apprentice Ram Nandan Majhi beat the ten to one shot Sheer Elegance in the final couple of strides to the delight of his supporters who fancied him to come out on top on the strength of his second behind Bertha in his last essay. Sheer Elegance in the hands of Umesh who was firing all blanks hit the front and looked set to score before Diamond And Pearls stormed up to challenge and beat the Ramanathan ward. The pipping hot favourite Brilliant Lady who suffered interference early in the race was seen finishing on fastest at end, but that was just not good enough to beat the first two. Nevertheless, with this good exercise unded her belt, Brilliant Lady is certain to earn her cornbill when next saddled.

Umesh finally got one to flash home first in the concluding event, the Theon Handicap run over a distance of seven furlongs. Safety who had let down large following in her last essay over a sprint trip came good over the extended seven furlongs trip comfortably beating the well-backed Multiflora who was touted a `good bet' after his impressive showing in her last essay. Multiflora again failed to break ice and had to rest content with the runner-up spot. Twice secnd from as many starts this season, it could well prove to be third time lucky for this Deepesh ward, when saddled next
