RWITC TO BE ADMINISTRATED BY THE SAME MANAGING COMMITTEE

Mr Surendra R. Sanas
It is going to be status quo at the Royal Western India Turf Club’s (RWITC) as far its management for the next year is concerned. The outgoing nine-member managing committee will be serving its third continuous term after being elected in September 2022. Mr Surendra R. Sanas retains his position as chairman of the club. The managing committee which was declared as having won unopposed at the turf club’s 109th Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, 26 September 2024, is as follows:
1. Mr Surendra R. Sanas (Chairman)
2. Mr Jiyaji M. Bhosale
3. Mr Khushroo N. Dhunjibhoy
4. Mr Sunil G. Jhangiani
5. Mr Jaydev M. Mody
6. Mr Gautam P. Lala
7. Mr Vijay B. Shirke
8. Dr Ram H. Shroff
9. Mr Shiven Surendranath
The same nine gentlemen will regulate the conduct of horse-racing as Stewards of the Club, the chairman of which will be Dr Ram Shroff.
As for the six-member Board of Appeal (BoA), Messrs Gulamhusein A. Vahanvaty and Asif Lampwala were the two members to retire by rotation this year and, as they were eligible for re-election, both members expressed their desire to contest for re-election. Since the RWITC did not receive any new nominations for the election of these two seats, both Vahanvaty and Lampwala were elected unopposed. The current BoA, which will continue to govern, consists of the following members:

2. Mr Dilip P. Goculdas
3. Mr Asif Lampwala
4. Ms Zinia Lawyer
5. Mr Hoshang J. Nazir
6. Mr Gulamhusein A. Vahanvaty
