KING’S BATTALION WINS MULTIDIMENSIONAL TROPHY
By Ikram Khan | 12 Oct 2024 | CHENNAI
Trainer Fahad Khan leading King's Battalion (C Umesh up), winner of The Multidimensional Trophy
It was a day most second choices called the shots at Guindy including the Fahad Khan-trained King's Battalion, the winner of the Multidimensional Trophy run over a mile a Guindy. The second favourite piloted by Umesh looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring before galloping home in emphatic fashion. The public rage Golden Warrior from Deepesh Narredu's yard partnered by Yash Narredu after being favourably placed at the top of the straight failed to raise a winning gallop and eventually finished a tame third behind the runner-up Cape Wickham. Now That King's Battalion is back in the winners' circle, this Fahad Khan trainee is certain to add a couple of more wins to his kitty.
Disappointed with the loss on Golden Warrior, Deepesh and Yash quickly made up for the loss, combining successfully to score in the principal added attraction, the Exhiliration Trophy run over a sprint. The favourite called the shots soon after the field of nine runners came under the starter's flag and never let the initiative slip, pegging back the five to one shot Gold Ride and the long shot Sheer Rocks, who was seen finishing on fastest at end. The well backed Knotty One, who impressed most winning his last start in resplendent style surprisingly performed below par and to the disappointment of his supporters finished down the field.
After a couple of suggestive efforts, the topweighted Royal Chivalry from B Suresh's yard produced his best in the hands of MS Deora to come up tops in the upper division of the Polar Falcon Trophy run over a sprint. The Vijay Singh schooled Straordinario garnered the maximum suppirt in this event, but the public choice failed to match strides with the first two and had to rest content with the third spot. Juliet Rose, who had finished second behind Crown Drive in her last essay again met a tartar in Royal Chivalry and hopefully it will prove to be third time lucky for the `Juliet' from Robert Foley's yard.
After missing out on Juliet Rose, Robert Foley struck it rich in the lower division, the lesser fancied Falconbridge piloted by five-kilo claimer Bharat Mal making every post a winning one, gallantly snuffing out the belated challenge of the favourite State Flag in the final furlong. Fancied sweetly in place, Charukala from Vijay Singh's yard did well to finish third ahead of Mahadevi, while Charukala's stablemate Dramatic was never in the hunt.
The seven to one shot Wisaka from the stables of GS Parmar strongly piloted by Farid Ansari shocked the followers of form in the Ministerial Trophy. The winner, who was seen travelling nice and easy all through the backstretch streaked ahead approaching the distance post and in double quick-time put the race to bed in the final furlong.
Another long shot Cloud Jumper from Suraj Shaw's yard followed the winner home ahead of of the favourite Desert Star. Wisaka appears in good form and it will pay to again support this Parmar ward.
The Sebastian schooled Vishwas dropped the biggest bombshell in the Kyoto Handicap run over a sprint. The shock winner partnered by Koshi Kumar had no takers even at the big price of (20/1), money pouring in on the public choice Val D'Aran from James McKeown's yard partnered by the French saddle artiste Julien Moulin. Val D'Aran was drawn badly in this event (12), but yet he made no effort to make a race of it and at end took a lot of good money down the drain. Silk Stuff followed the shock winner
Vishwas home, while Empire Of Dreams managed to save money in place.
Second in demand at the betting ring, Royal Mayfair from Rupa 's yard edged out the favourite Stolen Glance in a thriller in the opening event, the Roberto Handicap run over 1000 metres. Sai Kumar astride Stolen Glance hit the front and led all the way before Mukesh Kumar packed punch on Royal Mayfair and the winner got up in time to snatch the verdict from the favourite at the shadow of the winning post. War Emblem finished third, while another fancied contestant Atreides from Fahad Khan's yard was never in the hunt.
