Earlier, in the opening event, the Chirapunji Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs, the second in demand at the betting ring, Square Cut from Santosh Rao's yard confidently piloted by four-kilo claimer Faiz produced a fluent gallop to outclass his seven rivals, including the heavily backed Double Vision. The favourite from MR Singh's yard partnered by Shreyas Singh on the strength of her impressive second behind Sea Diamond over a mile in her last essay was touted as a `good bet' but the MR Singh ward found Square Cut too hot to handle and had to rest content with the runner-up berth again. Stone House from Girinath's yard finished a suggestive third, while the advantageously placed in at the scales, Bacchus completed the frame.

The Pradeep Annaiah schooled Master Victory and Epsom Downs from the stables of Bobby garnered the maximum support in the Autumn Blue Plate run over a sprint, but in what appeared a tricky race, it was not surprising to witness the `Jodi' take a back seat to the disappointment of the followers of form. The six to one shot Just Blues in the hands of Arvind Kumar made every post a winning one, successfully pegging back the belated effort of the long shot Dhurandar and the second favourite Epsom Downs, who after finishing second twice in her two earlier starts slipped down a place, but yet managed to save money in place.

A facile last start winner, NRI Ace from Sajid Qureshi's yard rightly opened the favourite in the K Thammanna Gowda Memorial Trophy run over a sprint, but much to the chagrin of her supporters, the Sajid ward produced a dismal effort and shockingly finished down the field. The Tejaswi schooled Perfect Perfecto piloted by Mohd. Mushraf dropped a bombshell in this event snuffing out the challenge of the second in demand at the betting ring, Heroism, while the lesser fancied Sira from Michael Eshwer's yard did well to finish third ahead of Tarek. The winner paid a rich dividend of Rs 447 on a tenner at the tote window.

Following the shock victory of Perfect Perfecto, the Stewards of the Mysore Race Club (MRC) decided to cancel the remainder of the three races. It is learnt that the jockeys informed the club that the track following rains before the first race  was not condusive to racing and the stipes and stewards realising that they need to conduct a seven- event card on Friday too, rightly decided to cancel the final three events.
