WINTER SEASON GETS UNDERWAY AT MALAKPET ON SUNDAY

Within a fortnight of wrapping up its monsoon edition last month, the Hyderabad Race Club is all geared up for the start of the winter racing season which gets underway at the Malakpet racecourse on Sunday, November 10. The winter season will last roughly for three and half months and will conclude on 24th February 2025, a week before the running Indian Turf Invitation Cup weekend which will be hosted this year by the Mysore Race Club.
The HRC has advertised a compact programme of 24 race meetings including the regional classics and several million events. The turf club is offering prize money over Rs 13 crore apart from trophies valued around Rs 18 lakh, which should attract large fields for the handicap events. The four winter classics – the Golconda 1000 & 2000 Guineas, the Golconda Oaks & Derby, will all be sponsored by Horse Power Sports League (HPSL). The HPSL Golconda 1000 & 2000 Guineas will be held on 25th November 2024 & 8th December 2024 respectively. The HPSL Golconda Oaks will be run on 5th January 2025 while the HPSL Golconda Derby Stakes will be hosted a fortnight later on 19th January 2025.
