After starting the season with a bang, leading in four winners, leading trainer Sulaiman Attaollahi added two more to his kitty on the second day of the winter season and this commendable start is a slap in face of some mischief makers, who posted  baseless and deplorable content with an intention to tarnish the image of a trainer who is among the top three trainers at this centre and rated high by many seasoned frontline trainers in the game. 

Sulaiman first led in Aquastic, a smart winner of the TB Hanumantharaj Memorial Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. The talented filly, who made a smashing debut in the summer season was advantageously placed in at the scales, in receipt of 7.5 kilos from the overwhelming favourite Elfin Knight who was heavily backed, his supporters confident that the `Knight' would cruise home nice and easy. The big amount of money that came pouring in on the Darius ward piloted by Trevor Patel who, recorded a final treble on the day,resulted in a big change in price at the betting ring, Elfin Knight slammed down to (55/100), while Aquastic had only a few takers at (5/1), the punters swayed by the support and confidence of the connections of the Darius ward who was touted as a `moral certainty'. Elfin Knight all through the seven furlongs trip struggled to keep pace, while Akshay Kumar astride Aquastic was favourably placed at the top of the straight. The winner hit the front approaching the distance post and quickly put the race to bed in the final furlong. Bharath partnered by G Vivek gained the runner-up ahead of the on-money favourite, who let down his large following, finishing a poor third. Aquastic, it is needless to mention is set to record a hat-trick when saddled next. 

Corinthian from Sulaiman's yard and a facile last start winner, Liv In The Mist garnered the maximum support in the concluding event, the upper division of the Jog Falls Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. Trevor pushed the Sulaiman ward to the front soon after the nine runners came under the starter's flag and the good looking son of Western Aristocrat who looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring bolted in to the delight of the Sulaiman camp. The Padmanabhan-trained Lone Ranger followed the eye-catching winner home, while the favourite Liv In The Mist after being favourably placed at the top of the straight went `phut' like a pricked balloon and eventually failed to even save money in place.

Earlier in the lower division, the public rage Pericles, who attracted strong support after Mandarino landed the Mysore Derby riches, bit the dust much to the disappointment of the followers of form who were of the opinion that this Sulaiman trainee will be hard to down taking into account that Pericles had beaten the Mysore Derby winner in his last start. The short-priced favourite piloted by Akshay Kumar failed to raise a winning gallop when the race came on a boil and shockingly finished fourth.The Azhar Ali schooled Iron King powerfully piloted by Trevor Patel edged out the Arjun schooled Cascais close home. The lesser fancied Magical Bay finished third and it will pay to follow and support this Prasanna Kumar ward over a mile long trip.

After booting home Iron King, Trevor Patel packed punch on another lesser fancied contestant Roman Spirit (6/1) from Dominic's yard to peg back the overwhelming favourite Blue God partnered by Antony Raj. in the Udupi Plate run over a sprint. The winner locked in a ding-dong battle with Blue God gained the day close home confirming that he on this day was a better horse. Blue God marginally suffered from the bad draw (12), but yet produced a good effort which was just not good enough to stop Roman Spirit from entering the winners' circle on this day. The second in demand at the betting ring, Mazal Tov found the first two too hot to handle and had to rest content with the third spot.

In the Malaprabha Plate run over a sprint, Dominic-trained Smile Of Beauty, Brave Majesty from the stables of Ganapathy and the Arjun schooled Ebotse cornered the maximum support in the betting ring and most old hats in the game were of the view that one of the top three on the betting board would score in this mediocre set. But that was not to be. The seven to one shot, Isabelle from trainer Irfan Ghatala's yard proved all the self proclaimed pundits wrong producing a sparkling gallop in the hands of the in-form Alex Rozario to score from Smile Of Beauty and Divo, while Ebotse,back after a three-month break did well to stay in contention for most part of the sprint trip and will prove to be a different customer when next saddled. 

After a couple of listless efforts, the Padmanabhan schooled Philosophy came into her own in the Bengaluru City Police Cup, the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs. Fancied strongly, the winner produced a gutsy effort in the hands of the talented Saqlain to snuff out the challenge of Aralina who looked set to score before Philosophy's late final dash gained the day for the public choice who,it must be mentioned was brilliantly piloted by Saqlain . Elpenor continued to disappoint, finishing a tame third ahead of Golden Time in a five-horse feature event. 

In the second event, the connections of Faraz Arshad lost their shirts. Chiraag in the Mount Joy Plate was backed down to (80/100), despite the fact that he is a confirmed `bleeder' and also his pilot Afsar is a panicky customer the moment under pressure. The public choice lost a couple of lengths at the start and this cost the Faraz ward dear at end and also the fact that Afsar was up against the top pro Antony Raj, who pulled out all stops while driving home the ten to one shot to a pillar to post victory. Emeraldo finished third ahead of Sacred Creator. 

In the opening event, the Parvati Byramji schooled Magnetic was strongly fancied to shed her maiden status. But competing in a trip which really is sharp for the bred in the purple filly, Magnetic only warmed up late to finish third and remain a `maiden' despite earning a runner-up berth behind Excellent Art in the Fillies Championship Stakes in the summer season. The five to one shot Rodney after a couple of near misses struck it rich to the delight of Rozario and Irfan. Rock Bank finished a game second and will certainly earn his maiden win over a mile and beyond exercise.
