What a performer Glorious King has been for trainer Deepesh Narredu and owners, Dr.Muthiah Ramaswamy and Ameeta Mehra. The talented son of Speaking Of Which from the famed Usha Stud farm chalked out his sixth straight success, detonating his 11 rivals in the Smt.Gayatri Devi Memorial Trophy, the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs. The star performer fancied to maintain his winning streak cantered home, sparing more than five lengths to his nearest rival Soft Whisper while providing leading saddle artiste Yash Narredu an arm-chair ride to success and on the strength of this performance is certain to extend his winning streak in the weeks ahead at Guindy. All credit to Deepesh who has played a stellar role, keeping Glorious King adequately fit and more importantly in winning form all through the year. 

The Nilgiris Derby winner, Royal Defender, back after his satisfactory stint in the Mysore plums started his campaign at his parent-centre on a winning note, edging out the advantageously placed in at the scales, Straordinario from the stables of Vijay Singh in a close finish. The winner piloted by the in-form Trevor Patel produced a winning gallop approaching the distance post  and after a ding-dong battle with the favourite Straordinario in the final furlong emerged the winner to the delight of his trainer Sebastian who, it must be mentioned sent out Royal Defender fighting fit after his last start in September. Celeste did well to finish third behind the two top market fancies, while Alpha Domino completed the frame in the Muthukaruppan Chettiar Memorial Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs.

The James Mckeown-trained Sierra Dela Plata who flopped miserably finishing more than 10 lengths behind the winner Persian Rock  in her last essay appeared to have sprouted a new pair of wings easily beating Persian Rock this time out in the Desert God Trophy run over a mile. It is true that Sierra Dela Plata enjoyed a weight advantage of more than five kilos in their second head-to-head clash, but the improvement made by the winner in three weeks did raise many eyebrows pointing out that Sierra Dela Plata lost carrying the public purse and bolted in when the bookmakers offered nourishing odds on the McKeown ward on New Years Eve. The stipes and stewards at this centre need to seriously look into the enhanced performance issues which are denting the image of the authorities of the club at this premier centre. 

The five to one shot Sunche Dreams in the hands of leading pro Umesh upset the applecart of the favourite Kallania in the concluding event, the Camino Handicap. The public choice piloted by apprentice jockey Darshan streaked into the lead at the top of the straight and established a two length advantage approaching the distance post before Umesh packed punch on the Fahad Khan schooled Sunche Dreams and the game seven-year-old produced a sparkling gallop in the final furlong to zoom past  Kallania and earn his winning bracket. The Rober Foley-trained Regent Prince fancied strongly in place did well to finish third to the delight of his supporters. 

Earlier, the seven to one shot Royal Nobility from Robert Foley's yard proved too good in the American Pharoah Handicap run over a distance of 2000 metres. The winner confidently piloted by Farid Ansari shot ahead at the distance post and quickly put the race to bed much to the delight of the Folay camp who had quietly and sweetly fancied the winner. The favourite Golden Legend from the stables of Suraj Shaw followed the winner home ahead of Windsor Walk, while the other fancied contestant in the fray, Gold Fame from McKeown's yard performed below par and finished in the ruck.

The on-money favourite Grenoble from the stables of Vijay Singh who had benefited most from a run under her belt justified her top billing in the Cavallo Veloce Trophy run over a sprint. The short-priced favourite in the hands of Hindu Singh did give a few anxious moments to her followers before she snuffed out the challenge of Chief Admiral close home. The Suresh-trained Chief Admiral after his impressive showing in his second start is tipped to shed his maiden status next time out. 

The ten to one shot Silk Stuff shocked the followers of form edging out the overwhelming favourite Charukala in the opening event, the Sha Tin Handicap. The winner piloted by apprentice jockey Shah Alam produced an astounding gallop in the final 50 metres to edge out Charukala much to the disappointment of the favourite backers who strongly fancied the Vijay Singh ward to provide an encore after her impressive last start success.
   
The lower division of the event was claimed by rank outsider Sovereign Spirit from the stables of Suresh. The first two shock results pushed the followers of form back against the wall before Grenoble provided relief to the railbirds winning the juvenile event.
