After two days of high drama at RCTC, trainer Aashay Doctor sealed victory over fellow professionals Rajesh Narredu and Rutherford Alford in the race for the trainers’ championship when his four-year-old chestnut gelding Go For The Moon (Dreamfield-Blue Moon) won the seven-furlong event for the Alaskan Handicap in the hands of Vivek. It was a No Whips race, and Vivek rode a highly competent race on the top-weight to hand the trainers’championship crown to Aashay Doctor.

Jockey Suraj Narredu was in his element from the word go on Friday (after recording a double on Thursday) as he registered an unbelievable treble with Winsangel  (7/2), Clever Hans (4/1) and La Dominate (7/1).In case of the first two named winners, chief contender Imran Chisty was the sufferer as  the two hot favourites Swift Lady and Gimmler bit the dust. The championship race was as good as over at that point of time. B Mahesh-trained Winsangel (Win Legend-Angels Glory) made every post a winning one in The Snow Forest Handicap. Both the winner and the favourite were found to be bleeding from their nostrils after the race. Vikash Jaiswal-trained Clever Hans (Gusto-Avision) was brought with a superb run from the rear of the five-horse field by Suraj to sail past half-money public choice Gimmler. Suraj finally put the prized trophy out of reach of his nearest contender Imran Chisty when he pocketed the Police Cup with B Mahesh-trained La Dominate(Dali-Lucy In the Sky). It was an amazing performance from the ace rider and he did it in formidable style.

The other cup event of the afternoon – The Toroloco Cup – saw the sole favourite to oblige in the seven-event card. Rutherford Alford-trained King Roger (Western Aristocrat-Catherine Linton), a eight-year-old bay gelding , won by eight long lengths with Imran Chisty in the saddle.

Trainer Neil Darashah and his trusted knight JH Arul pulled off a good double with Honey Cake and The Presence. The former, a five-year-old mare by Perfect Stride out of Performer, won the Royal Mantle Handicap start-tofinish after warding off a strong challenge from Marcolini and Three Little Words. The Presence (Multitude-Southern Fantasy) came with a late run in the final furlong of the mile race for the Angeles Handicap to edge out the favourite Don'tstopthemusic with Trevor astride. Two other Trevor-mount public choices to fail on the day were The General and Roman Spirit. All three horses hail from the Patrick Quinn stable. The ‘champion horse’ of the season was Casteel from the Rajesh Narredu yard and ‘the horse of the season’ was Liban from trainer Anil Kumar’s string.
