After making money on Saturday, most punters deposited it back with interest in the big bags of the bookmakers the next day, following the shocking results which stunned the followers of form. Only two favourites obliged on a day, the sun played hide and seek before the sunshine put trainer Aravind Ganapathy in different light, recording a big treble, all three winners offered at (10/1) in the betting ring. It was a red-letter for Aravind, the young trainer delivering three deadly knock-out blows, which floored the railbirds while the man later in the evening uncorked the bubbly, celebrating his second treble in what has been a blow-hot, blow-cold journey so far.  

Aravind first struck through Moonstar in the Beautiful Babe Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The (10/1) shot in the hands of top gun Akshay Kumar tracked the leader Resplendence for most part of the seven furlongs trip before Akshay put the Aravind ward in top gear at the top of the straight and Moonstar responding gamely to her master's call produced a winning gallop to romp home a deserving winner. The on-money favourite Rosario from champion trainer Pesi Shroff's yard followed the winner home ahead of the second in demand at the betting ring Xanthe, while Sassy Sarah completed the frame. 

In the next event, the lower division of the Pendragon Plate, Flash making an appearance after a six-month long lay-off stunned the railbirds making every post a winning one in the hands of Rayan Ahmed. The speedy customer after jumping out well hit the front and quickly assumed command before the second favourite Legendary Impact realised that the bird had flown and all she could do was to settle with the runner-up berth. The favourite Basilica from Sulaiman's yard found the first two too hot to handle and had to rest content with the third place finish.. 

In line for a hat-trick, Aravind sent out another long shot Spirit Dancer fit and fine in Ramkirpal Plate run over a sprint and the advantageously placed in at the scales contestant like Flash chalked out an impressive start-to-finish victory, pegging back the belated effort of another rank outsider Lady Invictus. The public rage Oxytocin, who many considered `past the post' and chose to back tons of money even at (45/100) were in for a rude shock, the pipping hot favourite finishing a tame third much to the shock and disappointment of her large following. The six-year-old mare was never really in the fight for top honours and this cost the punters dear. 

The in-form Meropi from Aashay Doctor's yard, on the strength of her game second behind Time And Tide in the Sprinters' Cup at Guindy on the first Sunday of March garnered the maximum support in the HH Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Cup and the Kolkata star in the hands of top gun Trevor Patel justified the confidence of her supporters romping home in style. The Prasanna schooled Prana was seen finishing on fastest at end, but the race was put to bed even before Prana warmed up for the final challenge in the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs. The topweighted Knotty Charmer did well to finish third after he attempted to make every post a winning one before surrendering the lead to the winner 300 metres from home. 

In what was really a two-horse affair, the Sulaiman schooled Fortis confidently piloted by Shreyas Singh chalked out his second straight success, coming up trumps in the upper division of the Pendragon Plate run over a sprint. A smart last start winner during the Indian Turf Invitation Cup week-end at Guindy, Thessalian from the stables of Prasanna Kumar closed even-money favourite, while Fortis too garnered good support (6/4). The two hit the front and set the tone in the concluding event before Fortis zoomed past the public choice approaching the distance post to cruise home an impressive winner. The moment Thessalian surrendered the lead, he packed up and eventually failed to make the board. Sienna Princess, strongly fancied in place by the Warren Singh camp put up a pleasing effort to gain the runner-up berth ahead of the topweighted True Punch who is set to earn his corn bill when saddled next. 

Pesi Shroff opened his account this season through Odysseus in the VT Velu Memorial Trophy run over a mile. The five to one shot brilliantly piloted by Neeraj Rawal produced a winning gallop 100 metres from home to edge out Rock Bank and the late finishing Storm Shadow in a cluster finish to the delight of the railbirds. Odysseus' stablemate Eagle Day partnered by Prakash topped the betting board in an open event, but the favourite after racing prominently for most part of the trip went out of gas when the race came on a boil and eventually finished down the field. Rock Bank finished half-length behind Odysseus and a `nose' in front of Storm Shadow piloted by the promising Chennai  jockey Farid Ansari.  

The 15 to one shot Night Raider from Irfan Ghatala's yard produced an astounding gallop to floor the lesser fancied Konkrah close home in the 1100 metres dash. The winner at one stage looked never in with a chance to topple the two front runners, Konkrah and the overwhelming favourite Quebec, but in a never-say-die bid Arvind Kumar packed punch on the rank outsider and Night Raider made a heist in the day. The well backed second choice Contessina from Satish Narredu's yard failed to make an impression and that effectively saw the `Jodi' go out of the window to the delight of the bookies. 

The top fancy in the opening event, Joyful Spirit, backed down from (9/4) to (13/10) in the Moonlight Romance Plate had it easy, sailing home nice and easy in the hands of Sai Kiran. The winner on the strength of this effortless victory is set to provide an encore. The friendless Sacred Creator followed the easy winner home ahead of Chinky Pinky, while the Umar Shariff schooled Sea Diamond who opened the favourite before money came pouring in on Joyful Spirit raced in patches and eventually finished down the field.
