It was a mixed bag. Three firm favourites, three flukes and a couple of second choices. End result, the punters returned home evens-stevens, satisfied with the results obtained and more importantly, form playing true in the two plum events, top fancy Indian Brocade coming up tops in the Deltin Juvenile Sprinters' Million and the gutsy Mayne Magic recording his fifth straight success, justifying his top billing in the principal added attraction, the Managing Committee Gold Cup run over a mile. 

On the strength of his smashing debut, Indian Brocade from the stables of Rajesh Narredu was fancied most in the plum event run over a sprint. The Adhirajsingh Jodha camp enjoying a good stint were `sweet' on Elusive Art, who had finished second behind the moody Divine Art on the opening day of the season. The two market leaders called the shots for most part of six furlongs trip before Neeraj Rawal astride the favourite packed punch on the Rajesh ward approaching the distance post and the talented youngster, responding gamely to her master's call produced a sparkling gallop to quickly put the race to bed to the delight of the Narredu camp. The top weighted Pole Star, a facile last start winner finished third ahead of Joondalup, while another last start winner Ziva found this company too hot to handle. 

In line for the big high-five, the Kishan Thomas schooled Mayne Magic topped the betting board in the Managing Committee Gold Cup run over a mile. The in-form star performer looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring, while arch rival Star Of Night from Sequeira's yard looked a trifle gross at the paddock. Galahad from the stables of Sulaiman Attaollahi on his fair effort, pitted against Ranquelino in his last start was fancied confidently and sweetly by the insiders and the right connections to stop Mayne Magic's winning run. But that didn't happen despite the fact that Champions Way and his pilot Abishek Matre cleverly plotted to run-away with the race only to lose out close home, Mayne Magic again produced a heartwarming performance in the hands of Antony Raj to maintain his winning streak. Sativur from Kolkata pro Rutherford's yard caught the eye, finishing a game third and it will not be long before this vastly improved Rutherford trainee earns his corn bill in the weeks ahead.  

Dynamic Force from Joseph's yard was heavily backed in the upper division of the Poonawalla Stud Plate run over a sprint. The on-money favourite who had finished an impressive second behind Mazal Tov in his last essay was touted a `moral certainty' in this event though the connections of Gimmler fancied their chances taking into account that Gimmler had finished third behind Dynamic Force and was better placed at weights this time out, 3.5 kilo claimer Faiz listed to partner the second favourite. Well the handicap nor the form worked and to the delight of the bookmakers, the fancied duo bit the dust, unable to match strides with the 10 to one long shot Star Concept, who helped Rajesh record a double. The overwhelming favourite followed the winner home, while Gimmler failed to save even money in place, edged out at the post by Aherne. 

The lower division of the event was claimed by the second in demand at the betting ring, High Speed Dive from MR Singh's yard. The winner provided the in-form G Vivek an arm-chair ride to success romping home by a big margin of nine lengths. High Speed Dive on the strength of this top effort is certain to make his presence felt in the higher category. The James McKeown-trained Grey Beauty attracted good support in the betting ring and closed favourite, but much to the disappointment of her large following failed to make a race of it and eventually finished in the ruck. 

Scent Of Rain from Sulaiman's yard was backed to the exclusion of her 10 rivals in the Smart Chieftan Plate for maiden three-years-olds run over a distance of seven furlongs. The top fancy hammered down from (12/10) to (80/100) found the surprise winner Hyperdrive from Irfan Ghatala's yard and the Aman Hussain-trained Neutralist too hot to handle and finished a tame third much to the chagrin of her followers. Hyperdrive powerfully piloted by Vivek edged out the debutant Neutralist, who was shaping like a winner before Vivek and Hyperdrive snatched victory at the shadow of the winning post. Neutralist, it is needless to mention in defeat was not disgraced and it will pay to again support him in his second career start. 

The public rage Sassy Sarah proved too good in the concluding event, the upper division of the Malakpet Plate, powering home without unduly being extended by the top pro Trevor Patel. NRI Victory from the stables of Sajid Qureshi did well to gain the runner-up berth in the hands of R Vaibhav, who replaced Vivek, who it is learnt was indisposed. The Warren Singh-trained The Gallery Time finished a suggestive third and is one for the notebook.

Second in demand at the betting ring, Out Into Spotlight from leading trainer Prasanna Kumar's yard made every post a winning one in the lower division of the event. Mustakim Alam produced a copybook effort on the winner, who looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring. The Rajesh Babu schooled Adelanto was heavily backed, but the favourite was seen struggling to keep pace half-way home in this 1300 metres trip and at end failed to make the board. Lesser fancied Blind Faith followed the winner home ahead of Immortal Beauty who appears to have improved. 

A bolt from the blue in the opening event pushed the punters on the back foot, rank outsider Baltimore in the hands of apprentice Asirvatham shocking her 11 rivals, slipping through a gap on the rails to snuff out the challenge of the lesser fancied Flamingo Dream partnered by Jagadeesh. The favourite Raffles from the stables of Dominic again failed to justify favouritism and finished a poor third ahead of Golden Gallery. The winner, it appears is in good nick and is likely to add another win when saddled next in the higher class.
