Come monsoon and the month of July and it is time for equine thoroughbreds to be prepared for the racing season that will be conducted at the Malakpet Racecourse by the Hyderabad Race Club. The club will be in a hurry to get over the controversy that rocked the racing circles in the country this summer when some horses, among the lot that was shifted to Madhya Pradesh after the conclusion of the winter season, allegedly died due to negligence. Regardless, the cash-rich turf club is all geared up to roll out a programme consisting of twenty-six race meetings starting Monday, 21st July. The season will conclude on 31st October.

An advertised amount of Rs 14 crore will be distributed as stake money as stake money by the club during the Hyderabad monsoon season 2025, which features the running of the regional classic events for fillies and colts. The Deccan Derby (Gr.1), traditionally run on October 2nd every year, will remain the main attraction of the season which will last for just over three months. The prestigious Nizam’s Gold Cup (Gr.2) and the President of India Gold Cup (Gr.2) will surely add colour to the racing season, which will also have several million events for the juvenile horses. Given the attractive prize money on offer, all the individual events should attract good fields as usual.

August: 4th, 10th (Golconda Million), 11th, 17th (Nizam’s Cup), 18th, 24th (Governor’s Cup), 25th, 31st (Fillies Championship).

September: 1st, 7th (Colts Championship), 8th, 14th (President Gold Cup). 15th, 21st, 22nd, 29th.

October: 2nd (Deccan Derby), 8th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 27th (St Leger), 31st.
