By Ikram Khan | 04 Sep 2025 | MYSORE

Trainer K Pradeep Annaiah leading Echoes of Time (Antony Raj S up), winner of The Srikantadatta Narasimharaajawadiyar Memorial Multi Million

It proved to be a dream start for the racing buffs in the royal city, five firm favourites bolting in to the delight of the followers of form in six-events, the principal added attraction, the HH Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy declared null and void following the false start. The gate of the public choice Aldgate from trainer Arjun Manglorkar's yard, drawn (1)  opened late, much after the rest of the four runners had jumped out and the starter did well to call it a false start and later the stipes and stewards rightly declared the race null and void.

The Rajesh Narredu-trained Indian Brocade and Echoes Of Time from the stables of Pradeep Annaiah topped the betting board in the Srikantadatta Narasimharaaja Wadiyar Memorial Multi-Million and the two dominated the finish of the plum event, the public choice powerfully piloted by Antony Raj gaining the day in convincing fashion. Efficacy from the stables of Sulaiman Attaollahi expectedly gained the third spot ahead of stablemate Scent Of Rain, while El Rey under the care of Padmanabhan found this company too hot to handle. The winner on the strength of this victory is certain to test the best in the major plums ahead, while Indian Brocade who in defeat was not disgraced, lives to fight another day.

After his brilliant effort astride Echoes Of Time, Antony Raj had it easy on the on-money favourite Pretty Move from the stables of leading trainer Rakesh in the Star Of Mysore Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. Antony pushed the top fancy to the front soon after the dozen runners came under the starter's flag and never let the initiative slip powering home to the joy of her supporters. The Jaishankar Pillay schooled Drisana caught the eye following the winner home ahead of the Monnappa-trained Mystic Divine, while the second favourite, The Golden Sunrise only managed to complete the frame. Pretty Move appears in good nick and is set to provide an encore when saddled next.

The Monnappa schooled Ocean, who let down large following in her last start made ample amends in the hands of apprentice jockey Faiz, making every post a winning one in the concluding event, the upper division of the Varada Plate. Faiz pushed the strongly backed even-money favourite to the front soon after the start and the public choice sprinting nice and easy established a clear advantage before negotiating the final curve and then put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. The Mansoor Khan-trained Knotty In Blue surprised most gaining the runner-up berth in the hands of Afsar Khan, while Falcon Fury partnered by Srinath saved money in place. Second in demand  at the betting ring, Beautiful Bloom piloted by Dhanu Singh performed below par and finished down the field.

The upper division of the event was claimed by the seven to one shot Code Of Honour from Bobby's yard. The winner piloted by Dhanu Singh produced a sparkling gallop in the final furlong to snuff out the challenge of rank outsider Eagle Buff and Anushtubha, while the well-backed favourite The Whispering from Ranjeet's yard disappointed most failing to make a race of it and eventually finishing in the ruck, much to the chagrin of the big bettors who invested big on the five-year-old gelding.

Agera from Pradeep Annaiah's yard looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring and he readily justified favouritism, providing Alex Rozario an armchair ride to success in the BK Krishnadevaraj Urs Memorial Trophy run over a sprint. The winner is in rousing form and it will pay to again support this Pradeep ward when saddled next. Lady Invictus followed the winner home ahead of the advantageously placed at the scales, Absolute Conqueror from trainer Vishal Yadav's yard.

The Joseph-trained Absolute Katrina came up tops in the opening event, the Season Opener Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. A confident J Chinoy settled the public choice in mid-division for most part of the journey before he setalight the Joseph ward at the top of the straight and the winner responding gamely to her master's call produced a winning gallop to zip past the leader Super Sexy, who led the big field of dozen runners by more than 10 lengths before the topweighted contestant shot her bolt and packed up a furlong from home. Star Symphony caught the eye while finishing second behind the winner and is one for the notebook.
