Trainer Kishan Thomas leading Mayne Magic (Antony Raj S up), winner of The Maharaja's Cup (Gr.2)
The darling of the Mysore race buffs, Antony Raj, who has made winning a habit this season at Mysore recorded another fine treble. The leading saddle artiste now has 13 wins to his credit from the six meeting at this premier racing centre. And his supporters, it is needless to mention have raked in the moolah, confidently investing big money on the fancied horses piloted by the pro who is enjoying a dream run. Antony opened his account on the on-money favourite Adornment from trainer Darius Byramji's yard in the opening event, the Kumaradhara Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The public choice, who looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring readily justified her top billing to the delight of the railbirds looking to start the day on a winning note. Star Symphony from the sables of Pradeep Annaiah followed the winner ahead of Southernaristocrat.
Next astride the star performer Mayne Magic, who had remained unbeaten from his six last starts, Antony who has struck a perfect bond with the Kishan Thomas ward guiding home successfully in his last five attempts produced exemplary saddle artistry which provided an object lesson to the young hopefuls looking to don silks in the years ahead. Antony settled the well fancied Mayne Magic nice and easy in the mid-divison, while Trevor guiding the fortunes of the topweighted African Gold, another top fancy, chose to track the two leaders Champions Way and Mystic Bond in the mile long trip for the Maharaja's Cup.
Trevor pushed African Gold ahead the moment the nine contestants negotiated the final curve and Antony setalight Mayne Magic. The Kishan Thomas ward in double-quick time produced another noteworthy performance to sail past African Gold before comfortably pegging back the late challenge of rank outsider Global Influence. African Gold held on to save money in place, edging out Promiseofthefuture by the shortest of margins. Mayne Magic on his seventh straight success was provided a standing ovation from the big crowd and the galloping goldmine deserved it. Immensely pleased, Kishan Thomas proudly led in the champion owned by the Dubai-based Indian businessman Eugene Aloysious Mayne.
In line for a treble, Antony partnering the overwhelming favourite Coorg General from Aditya's yard had it easy cruising home without breaking a sweat. Lesser fancied Sorrento Secret followed the winner ahead of Tigerking, who was tipped to upset the applecart of the public choice, but the Vishal Yadav trainee piloted by Rahul lacked the gas in the tank to match strides with the first two and finished a tame third. The winner is in good form and may register a hat-trick if his connections place him well in his next start.
The Bobby-trained Mark One who impressed most while finishing a game second behind Ziva in her last essay went one better, comfortably beating the favourite Smile Of Beauty from Dominic's yard in the upper division of the Sidapur Plate run over a sprint. The public choice in her customary style hit the front in the hands of Abishek Mathre and called the shots for most part of the six furlongs trip before Pavan brought Mark One into contention in the final furlong and after a brief duel, the Bobby ward surged ahead and closed out the contest in convincing fashion. Amazing Attraction caught the eye while finishing a creditable third and it will not be long before this Inayathullah ward earns her winning bracket. Multisided again lost more than eight lengths at the start and with it all the chances of making a race of it.
The lower division of the event was claimed by the second in demand at the betting ring, Vayu from Joseph Awale's yard. The Joseph and J Chinoy combination continues to flourish, the duo pulling pff good gambles on horses tuned to the minute by Joseph. The Bipin Salvi-trained Sea Of Adventure, who garnered the maximum support found the winner too hot to handle, while the MR Singh schooled Versace, who was also fancied strongly only managed to finish third, lacking the spring in the stride to challenge the first two in the final furlong.
The public rage Flaming Sword from the stables of Dominic, fresh from his success in his last start at the Bangalore summer season, detonated his nine rivals in the Civil Services Trophy run over a sprint. The winner piloted by Trevor Patel is in fine nick and is set to record a hat-trick of wins when next saddled. Serai from Jaishankar Pillay's yard followed the winner home, while Southern Force did well at end to save money in place.
