Mr Ashok Ranpise leading Rock Bank (Neeraj Rawal Up), winner of The Rajakumari Leelavathi Devi Memorial Trophy

On a day four heavily backed on-money favourites proved smash hits, most big bettors confidently placing big bets on each of the four winners, never mind the short-price, the small bettors clicked their doubles and trebles and the much sought after Scissors (Khainchi) on Eclipse Pulse, Winfield, Rock Bank and Silicon Star, before returning home satisfied with the profitable exchanges in the bookmakers ring. The Prasanna-trained Rock Bank, who was considered a cinch in the Rajakumari Leelavathi Devi Memorial Trophy made every post a winning one in the plum event run over a mile. Leading pro Neeraj Rawal produced a copybook effort on the winner, who is in good form. Topeighted Touch Of Grey partnered by RN Darshan made a brave bid to challenge the (45/100) public rage in the final furlong, but found the winner too hot to handle, Rock Bank powering home the moment Neeraj cracked the whip on the smart winner.

The Arjun Manglorkar schooled Winfield, who impressed most while finishing a game third behind Small Dreams and the Pradeep Annaiah-trained Elfin Knight in her last essay was head and shoulders above her six rivals in the fray for the Ranga Family Cup, the principal added attraction run over a distance of nine furlongs. Top saddle artiste Antony Raj who, is in red hot form, booting home winners at all the racing centres took no chances tracking the two leaders Serdar and Mystikos for most part of the trip before he reminded the half-money favourite of the task ahead approaching the distance post and the grey shot through to put the race to bed longway from home. Mystikos did well to hang on and finish second ahead of Whirlwind from the stables of Vijay Singh.

Earlier, a big gamble on Shock And Awe from Neil Devaney's yard flopped badly, the strongly backed favourite finishing down the field in the Shimsha Plate run over a mile. Shock And Awe piloted by the five-kilo claimer Sachin graced the wrong end of the field all through the backstretch and continued to stay there till the very end much to the disappointment of the Devaney camp, who were bullish of her chances in this event for horses in the lowest class. The five to one shot Eco System from the stables of Ranjeet came up tops ahead of Sling Shot, while Striking Eyes, stablemate of the runner-up saved money in place. Double Scotch opted out of the event

The Azhar Ali schooled Eclipse Pulse garnered the maximum support in the lower division of the Sri Kanteerava Narasimharaja Sports Club Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. And the public choice without really being extended made every post a winning one in the hands of apprentice jockey Asirvatham. A confident Asirvatham pushed the on-money favourite to the front soon after the seven runners came under the starter's flag and the public choice sprinted clear, showing a clean pair of heels to her six rivals including the second in demand at the betting ring, Sandal King, who was sweetly fancied by his connections to upset the applecart of Eclipse Pulse. The Feroz Khan ward partnered by leading Hyderabad `Knight' Mukesh Kumar raced in patches and only finished a tame third behind Totally Epic from Rajesh Narredu's yard. Eclipse Pulse, who looked a picture of fitness in the parade ring appears to be in good nick and is set to provide an encore.

The upper division of the event was claimed by another piping hot favourite Silicon Star from Lokanath's yard piloted by Ramu. The winner tracked the second in demand at the betting ring Knotty Affair, who in her effort to make every post a winning one in the hands of the promising apprentice N Darshan failed to match strides with the much superior Silicon Star in the final furlong. Selma from the stables of Jaishankar Pillaywho was strongly fanced in place did well to finish third and that helped her supporters join the winning brigade in the quick march to the payment windows in the bookmakers stall.

In the concluding event, the Indradhanush Plate, the lesser fancied Felicita made every post a winning one in the hands of Pavan, pegging back the two long shots Furious Fun and Break Away. The Ranjeet-trained, The Lady Emporio was a medium of a big gamble, backed own from (7/2) to even-money before the price on the the `Lady' again went up, the Ranjeet ward closing at (6/4). But all that the hot favourite did was take tons of good money down the drain, Ramu and the Lady out of contention even before the dozen contestants negotiated the final curve in this 1100M dash.

Jannat was another hot case in this event, Varun shockingly standing up and making no effort on the Himanshu ward in the final dash to the wire. Despite the lacklustre effort of her pilot, Jannat finished a close fourth and Varun now needs to answer some tough questions to the stipes and stewards.
