FOXY MAKES AMENDS IN THE RADHA SIGTIA TROPHY
By Usman Rangila | 07 Mar 2026 | MUMBAI
Mr Jaydev M Mody and trainer Behram Cama leading Foxy (Aditya Waydande Up), winner of The Radha Sigtia Trophy
The four-year-old filly Foxy made ample amends for her disappointing performance as a favourite a month ago with a pleasing performance in the Radha Sigtia Trophy, Saturday’s feature event. Ridden by apprentice Aditya Waydande, Foxy hugged the rails as Storm Cloud hit the front with joint-favourite Your Unforgettable in close attendance. On reaching the two-furlong marker, Behram Cama-nursed Foxy (Surfrider – Lorraine) stepped up the pace to take charge from Storm Cloud and then kept going under the whip to resume her winning ways and, in the process. avenging her stablemate Esperanza’s earlier defeat at the hands of Your Unforgettable. The latter, though conceding chunks of weight to her rivals in this race, showed no signs of the brilliance she had displayed in her previous run and was badly outpaced when asked for an effort by Yash Narredu. Cellini ran on late to finish half-length behind runner-up Storm Cloud and an identical distance behind ran Your Unforgettable.
With Your Unforgettable’s failure, trainer Pradeep Chouhan may have missed saddling a winner in the big event yet he hogged the limelight by returning home with three winners – Admirable, Youremanorborne and Manwar. Chouhan’s decision to use blinkers on Admirable had the desired effect as the filly made every post of the Euphemia Plate a winning one. Admirable’s task was rendered a bit easy as favourite Storm Majesty was withdrawn after he was reluctant to enter the starting stalls. Akshay Kumar got Admirable to spurt ahead when the starter’s flag came down and she never yielded to the pressure exerted by Paloma and Minari towards the end stages of the six-furlong sprint. Admirable (Well Done Fox – Sparkling Crystal) won warding off to secure a narrow verdict over Minari, who was half-length clear of Paloma. Victory Flair took the fourth spot.
Chouhan also chose to run Youremanorborne with blinkers and it worked wonders for the filly, who pulled off a silent coup for her connections in the Osman Chotani Plate. Despite having failed to figure on the judges’ board in her four career starts to date, Youremanorborne surprisingly attracted a lot of smart money in the betting ring and ended up as the first favourite. Of course, she did not disappoint those who bet on her chances. After staying in close touch with the front-runners headed by Beat The Heat and Viking till arriving in the home stretch, R. Ajinkya shifted gears on Youremanorborne following which the filly picked up momentum inside the last two furlongs. Soon, Youremanorborne (Moonlight Magic – To The Manor Born) went sailing past runner-up Tropical Paradise to register her maiden win, a facile one for that matter. Exotic Star ran on late to be third ahead of Flash Mob.
Manwar was another runner saddled by Chouhan who went on to taste his maiden success. Earlier, hot favourite Undercover appeared to have wrapped up the race after Yash Narredu tackled leader Gold Bag, a furlong away from the wire. Meanwhile, Manwar (Whatsthescript – Yas Marina) came with a big run when asked for an effort by Akshay and finished on with a rattle to stun Undercover in the shadow of the winning post. Agatha also made a strong bid close home but had to settle for the third place, a neck behind Undercover. Gold Bag retired to be a close fourth.
The seasoned campaigner Exuma from veteran MK Jadhav’s yard found his way to the winner’s enclosure after a gap of nearly a year and a half. In doing so, Exuma took the toll of the fancied duo, Diego Garcia and Pristine Glory, at the start of the day and claimed the Aziz H. Ahmedbhoy Trophy, run over the Derby distance. Diego Garcia was taken on a start-to-finish mission by Yash and the colt held the advantage till the four-horse field had two furlongs left to travel. NS Parmar drove Exuma vigorously at this stage to assume command from Diego Garcia and did not ease the pressure till passing the winning line. Exuma (Australia – Bahama Bay) won comfortably from Pristine Glory whilst Diego Garcia faded out to be third, well ahead of Flaming Lamborgini who trailed the field.
Despite lacking initial speed, Narendra Lagad-trained Samson finished on with a burst in the home stretch to win the day’s concluding event. Earlier, Sky Full of Stars spurted ahead but could not repel the assault launched by Waydande-ridden Samson (Excellent Art – Choose), who won sparing a length to Sky Full of Stars. Rise All Stars and Key West, who were both available at longer odds, finished a close third and fourth respectively.
