DREAM SELLER PROVES HIS CLASS IN THE SPRINTERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP
By Usman Rangila | 15 Mar 2026 | MUMBAI
Trainer P S Chouhan leading Dream Seller (P Trevor up), winner of The Zavaray S Poonawalla Sprinters' Challenge
With Time And Tide—winner of the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Championship in the preceding two years—out of the way along with other quality sprinters barring Miss American Pie, Dream Seller notched up a well-deserved success on Sunday. Dream Seller was eased off after a fluent jump from the barriers and Trevor Patel allowed both A. Sandesh-ridden Social Butterfly and Yash Narredu-piloted Credence to spend their fuel upfront. Trevor made a daring bid by steering Dream Seller through a narrow gap ahead at the two-furlong marker, throwing a challenge at Social Butterfly. After a brief tussle that lasted until the final furlong, Pradeep Chouhan-nursed Dream Seller (Phoenix Tower – Maluku) gained the upper hand and kicked on gamely to win from late-finishing Western Star. Credence just pipped Social Butterfly on the post to finish third, while the rest three, including Miss American Pie, hardly made any impact during the six-furlong sprint.
Chouhan also saddled Break Point, who made her experience and the handicap count as she brushed aside the threat posed by the well-fancied duo from Shroff’s barns, Zacharias and Namiri, in the day’s opening event. Neeraj Rawal had Break Point chasing Fortunate Son as soon as the seven-horse field had sorted itself out for the mile journey, while Namiri led the rest of the runners who travelled in a single file. As they swung in for home, Neeraj took Break Point past Fortunate Son and established a comfortable lead which proved unassailable in the end. Try hard as they did, both Zacharias and Namiri failed to collar Break Point (Dreamfield – Sweet Caroline), who prevailed by half a length over the favourite. A length and a half further away came Namiri in third while top-weighted Thundering Phoenix, probably bogged down by the weight he had to concede to his rivals, ran fourth.
Before clinching the Ahead of My Time Million with Manor House after a stirring duel with stablemate American Eagle in the last race, Yash Narredu earlier guided Renaissance to a fluent win over favourite Santana Row in the Open Spaces Million. Yash gave Renaissance a crack of the whip to shake off his initial lethargy while AR First Star spurted ahead with favourite Santana Row in chase. Renaissance trailed the field till entering the home stretch and then started to bridge the leeway steadily. Meanwhile, Santana Row tackled the leader when Trevor applied pressure, but Malesh Narredu-schooled Renaissance came all guns blazing to range alongside his rival. As Yash punched for home, Renaissance (Win Legend – For An Angel) wore down Santana Row to secure victory close home by just under a length. Ashwa Ankara was hard-ridden to run third, while Jackson ran a tame fourth.
Aman Altaf Hussain’s ward Manor House came well from the wide draw to hit the front, though not before cutting across the field while American Eagle crept closer onto the heels of his stablemate as they approached the final turn. In his desperation to keep his chances afloat, Yash kept whipping Manor House (Leitir Mor – Windsor Manor) before driving him out to beat apprentice Aditya Waydande-partnered American Eagle, who went down by a whisker and very nearly stole the race in final stages of the six-furlong event. Shirsa came through the shortest way home to take the third spot ahead of Charlie Brown.
Aman earlier led in the firm favourite Neutralist, who made every post of the seven-furlong endeavour a winning one to claim the Lahinch Million. After taking a slender lead at the start, Neutralist (Planetaire – Nuray) travelled on the bit in the hands of Trevor and stepped up the speed in the straight to sail clear of his rivals for a comfortable win. La Dolce Vita and Starseed were beaten fair and square as they went past the post together to finish second and third. Neutron faded out to be fourth after a forward run.
Rambo, the 25-to-1 longshot in the betting ring, registered a stunning upset in the Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes. Queen of Beauties, with Akshay Kumar in saddle, made a start-to-finish bid over the seven-furlong journey and almost had the race sewn up before Antony Raj showed Shazaan Shah-groomed Rambo the daylight in the home stretch. As Akshay rode Queen of Beauties vigorously in his attempt to sustain the lead, Rambo (Leitir Mor – Stravella) loomed large on the outside and zipped past the filly in the last fifty metres. Trevor-ridden on-money favourite Invictor let down a large following by finishing a dismal third ahead of Gunfire, who too failed to give her supporters a run for their money and ran fourth.
