TUZ FANCIED TO MAKE SEEMAR PROUD

By Ikram Khan | 28 Mar 2026 |

When it comes to the big day at Meydan, you just cannot leave out Bhupat Seemar. The dual UAE champion trainer to his credit has two Dubai Golden Shaheen wins through Switzerland and Tuz in addition to Laurel River, who galloped to fame, winning the Dubai World Cup two years ago.

This year Seemar has a whopping 15 runners on the big-day card, more than any other trainer including two runners, Walk Of Stars and Imperial Emperor who competed in the rich $12 million dollars iconic event last year, Imperial Emperor finishing fourth, while Walk Of Stars found the competition too hot to handle, eventually finishing down the field. A brave Seemar has decided to give the two another chance and he believes the two have improved and will give a better account of themselves in the global extravaganza on Super Sunday.

"Imperial Emperor is definitely doing a lot better than last year. He looked a little bit tired at the end of last year, so we have freshened him up and he is in good shape for the event. As far as Walk Of Stars, he has improved with each run this year though I must confess he needs to put a giant stride ahead to stake his claim against quality opposition," said Seemar.

Seemar isn't fazed by the presence of dual Saudi Cup and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Forever Young in the field. "He arguably is the best horse in the world and he's the favourite for the cherished crown. It's good to compete against the best horse and hopefully we will make him run," said Seemar.

Seemar on the big day is hoping to win the Dubai Golden Shaheen on Tuz again. One of the best sprinters in the world, Tuz is in fine form going into the event and Seemar is confident that the classy sprinter will make him proud on the big day.

"He's nine-years-old, so we don't run him as often. But let me tell you, he is in the form of his life and he is the one they all have to beat," said Seemar adding that Tuz was not 100 percent fit last time, but he's spot on this time out.

Seemar also runs Drew's Gold, unbeaten since joining his yard at the start of the season and G3 winner Mufasa in the six furlongs contest. "Drew's Gold has won both his starts this season and I only have freshened him up. Mufasa is a tricky horse and we are trying to figure him out. Ryan Moore said last time out he should have won, he got hampered a little bit and that he would like to ride him next time out and that provides me the confidence. If Ryan says that it must be a good thing," signed off Seemar.
