It was a dream day from the punters' point of view, six firm favourites and a solitary well-backed joint favourite, Jade Mountain, earning their winning brackets in the clean seven-event card on the second day of the summer season. Top gun Trevor Patel, who drew a blank on the opening day, losing on three public choices, made ample amends recording a treble, partnering Jade Mountain, Bulletproof and the highly talented Money Bags to the delight of the followers of form, who enjoyed a good run under the blazing sun. 

Astride the Lokanath Gowda-trained Jade Mountain, who was sweetly fancied by the Lokanath camp, backed down from (13/4) to (9/4) to share the top billing with the Sulaiman Attaollahi schooled Splendid Dream in the upper division of the Belmont Plate, Trevor tracked the two front runners, fancied Splendid Dream and no hoper Double Your Money for most part of the six furlongs trip before he packed punch on the Lokanath trainee approaching the distance post and Jade Mountain, responding brilliantly to his master's call streaked ahead and quickly put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. Splendid Dream hung on to finish second ahead of the topweighted Sapporo from trainer Irfan Ghatala's yard, while Incio completed the frame.

Next, guiding the fortunes of another top fancy Bulletproof, competing in the Welcome Plate run over a sprint, Trevor pushed the public choice from the stables of Sulaiman to the front soon after the the 11 runners came under the starter's flag and the favourite showed a clean pair of heels to his 11 rivals, putting the race to bed a furlong from home. Osaka from trainer Imtiaz Khan's yard followed the impressive winner home ahead of Monstera, while Pearl Star. a costly purchase, it was clear needed this run.

In line for a treble, Trevor had it easy on the public rage Money Bags in the concluding event, the Squanderer Plate run over a sprint. The talented colt made a fine impression, detonating his 11 rivals without breaking sweat and on the strength of this performance is tipped to win his next couple of starts without a fuss. Defence Counsel from the stables of Dominic piloted by Ryan Ahmed surprised most, gaining the runner-up berth ahead of the Prasanna Kumar schooled Pole Star, while the Darius Byramji-trained Flight Of Fancy piloted by leading pro Antony Raj performed much below par.

One other top-ranked performer, Prokofiev from champion trainer Prasanna Kumar justified his top rating and ranking, snuffing out the challenge of the second in demand at the betting ring, Rieko in the Ranquelino Cup, the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs. The half-money favourite was guided home in copybook fashion by Neeraj Rawal. Prokofiev, it is needless to mention will benefit most from this easy exercise and is set to provide an encore. Reiko, up against a quality performer, in defeat was not disgraced and lives to fight another day.

After making a favourable impression in a mock race before the start of the season, Fils De France from Arjun Manglorkar's yard garnered maximum support in the upper division of the Royal Command Plate and the top choice in the hands of Antony Raj made every post a winning one without really being extended. Steffen from the stables of Pradeep caught eye, while gaining the runner-up berth ahead of the second favourite Supreme Success from trainer Satish Narredu's yard, who raced in patches and as a result never could pose a serious threat to Fils De France. The lower division of the event was claimed by the on-money favourite Blue Storm who provided the promising apprentice Pavan his third win in the first two-days, donkey-licking her eight rivals to the delight of the Irfan camp. LG's Script followed the smart winner home and it will pay to also follow the runner-up from Lokanath's yard in the weeks ahead. 

A picture of fitness at the parade ring, Azhar Ali schooled Mnemosyne looked a winner the moment he entered the paddock and he readily justified his looks, producing a sparkling gallop in the hands of Akshay Kumar to stand tall at the podium. The Irfan Ghatala-trained Night Raider caught the eye, while finishing an eye-catching second ahead of the topweighted Mutual Trust, who had good share of her followers and Tiger Bay, who charged home late on the scene. This Prasanna trainee appears in good health and it will pay to support him over an extended trip in his next start.
