It proved music to the ears. The Soli Merwan Cama Music and Production Juvenile Sprinters' Million was a one-horse race even before the five contestants came under the starter's flag and Iron Mirage's merry dance to the post in a smart time without Akshay Kumar moving a muscle led to a song and dance in champion trainer, Prasanna Kumar's camp. It is true that Iron Mirage was up against four ordinary rivals, but the manner in which he toyed with the opposition and stylishly  cantered home without breaking an ounce of sweat, only confirmed that this son of Dreamfield will emerge a top sprinter on the Indian racing circuit in the year ahead. Will Prasanna target the Sprinters' Cup in October in Mysore or he will choose to pick up the many major sprint plums on offer at all the premier racing centres this year with an eye on the Sprinters crown again in March will be the hot debate among the many pundits and the railbirds in all the `Taza Thindi' and coffee shops in town. 

Leading owner Ashok Ranpise, who proudly led in the star sprinter was immensely pleased with the sublime effort of Iron Mirage and so too the sponsor, Soli Merwan Cama. Soli impressed with the dazzling effort said: "It was a heartwarming effort from the winner. And he really provided a silver lining to the event I pitched in to promote and support and I'm very satisfied and pleased with my maiden sponsorship deal in the sport at this premier centre," said the director of the Soli Merwan Cama Music and Production company, adding that he is now looking to get into classic event promotions. " The idea is to raise the bar and get to do the best," said Soli. 

On a day, the punters enjoyed a good run, most fancied runners nailing bold colours to the mast, the on-money favourite Rampage from Shazaan Shah's yard  showed a clean pair of heels to his six rivals in the Smart Chieftan Plate run over a sprint. A cool and composed Yash Narredu produced a copybook effort on the goodtype of youngster. Second in demand at the betting ring, Ashwa New York piloted by leading pro Suraj Narredu followed the winner home. 

Youremanorborne was another hot favourite, who justified his top billing, gallantly pegging pack the gutsy effort of the lesser fancied Winfield from Arjun Manglorkar's yard in the Astronomic Plate run over a distance of 2000 metres. Sandesh astride the winner produced a neat effort, judging the pace to a nicety and was in no pressure when Winfield threw in a challenge, coolly driving home the Pradeep Chouhan ward to a deserving victory. Storm Shadow finished third ahead of Badshaah, who caught the eye and it will not be long before this Pradeep trainee earns his winning bracket this season. 

Next in the line was Promiseofthefuture from the stables of Irfan Ghatala, who maintained the winning run of the favourites, producing a resplendent effort to come up trumps in the managing Committee Gold Cup run over a mile. Neeraj Rawal produced a stellar effort on the game galloper, who is set to score again when next saddled particularly over an identical trip. Xanthe from Sulaiman Attaollahi's yard gained the runner-up berth, while the Satish Narredu schooled Superstar, who lost a couple of lengths at the start before Yash pushed him up in the backstretch, quickly went out of gas at the top of the straight and finished a bad last. 

After the debacle of Superstar, the on-money favourite, Shining Ways brought the smile back on the face of Satish Narredu powering home in the Malakpet Plate. The winner, who had made a smashing debut before he found the winner of the Colts Trial, D'Artagnan and few other top colts too hot to handle in his next essay, is back in the winners' circle and could well add to his kitty if his connections wisely choose his next target in the weeks ahead. 

In what was a very open affair, lesser fancied Kabali provided trainer Gregory Sandhu his first win after his comeback, detonating his eight rivals in the upper division of the Poonawalla Stud Plate run over a sprint. The winner in fact was a medium of a big gamble which flopped in his last start, unseating apprentice jockey Sachin immediately after the start, but this time out, AR Pradeep guiding the fortunes of the six to one shot jumped out well and sailed through to score in emphatic fashion. Felisa followed the winner home ahead of the favourite Aquastic, while another fancied contestant Senor Cherie only managed to complete the frame. The lower division of the event was claimed by the second favourite Defence Counsel from trainer Dominic's yard, who opened his account after a couple of fancied horses from his yard failed to deliver the goods this season. Strongly fancied Bestidentification from Lokanath Gowda's yard piloted by in-form Ashhad Asbar found the winner too good and lives to fight another day.
