Champion trainer Prasanna Kumar and top saddle artiste Akshay Kumar emerged champs. The former led in 27 winners, while Akshay booted home a similar number at the end of the summer season, which was dominated by the top Mumbai pro Pesi Shroff, who won all the three premier classics including the rich Zavaray Poonawalla Derby and a number of other plum events. Shroff in fact recorded a 1-2 in the blue riband, the classy filly Margaretta finishing second behind the champion colt D'Artagnan piloted by young Yash Narredu. 

The three top pros apart, Ashhad Asbar with 13 winners to his credit including the popular double on the penultimate day, top apprentice jockey Pavan (11) and Lokanath Gowda (13) staged a big leap this summer sending out a clear message that the second line is prepared and ready to get to the next level and all it needs is a strong push from the stake holders. A few quality horses will do the trick and Lokanath, Pradeep, new entrant John and a couple of other smart cookies will be hoping that some of the good stock at the auctions later this year lands up in their stables. And if that happens, racing at this premier centre will be highly competitive, the second line capable and ready to change the pecking order at the top.  

After the fancied stars from Pesi Shroff called the shots in the three classics, the final classic of the season, the St.Leger produced a shock result, the friendless Ramiel from the stables of Hyderabad-based pro Bharath Singh upsetting another Shroff mainhope Duke Of Tuscany. The shock result proved to be the final nail in the coffin, all the classics including the prestigious Maharaja's Cup claimed by outstation pros, while the locals, bar Prasanna to some extent, had to rest content with consolation prizes.

On the final day the followers of form started on a winning note, the well fancied Force Of Nature from Gregory Sandhu's yard  showing a clean pair of heels to his seven rivals in the opener. Next, Aravind Ganapathy brought off a big coup on Flavianus in the third division of the Champion Jockey Cup run over a sprint. The winner slammed down from (7/2) to (6/4) in the betting ring hit the front soon after the 11 runners came under the starter's flag and in the hands of champion jockey Akshay Kumar, never let the initiative slip, cruising home nice and easy to the delight of her supporters, who confidently supported the speedy filly to shed her maiden status. Fortissima from Irfan Ghatala's yard followed the winner home ahead of The Make Sure, who also had her fair share of followers, but found the winner too good on this day. 

The second division of the event was claimed by another well backed contestant Carat Love from the stables of Vishesh. The winner, who found the speedy Vibrant Queen too hot to handle in her last start produced a good turn of foot in the hands of Neeraj Rawal to zip past the front runner Lockheed and arch rival Lena to earn her cornbill in the final event of the summer. The top division was claimed by the six to one shot Waitara from trainer Arjun Manglorkar's yard. The winner piloted by Antony Raj, who booted home Ramiel in the St.Leger, shot ahead at the distance post and quickly put the race to bed in the final furlong. Lesser fancied Incredible Luck followed the winner home, while the the Michael Eswer-trained Quantum, making her maiden appearance this season after a eight month long lay-off found the going tough and retired much before the race came on a boil.

On the strength of her impressive showing in her last essay, second behind Asterion over a mile long trip, Royal Legacy was rightly fancied most by all the big bettors in the Governor's Trophy and the James McKeown trainee confidently piloted by Vivek easily made every post a winning one to the delight of the McKeown camp. The Prasanna schooled Moon Oracle caught the eye in her debut, finishing on purposefully at end to take the third spot behind Fine Silver after the debutant partnered by Ashhad Asbar suffered an infringement from Majestic Legacy at a crucial stage of the race. Moon Oracle appears a decent youngster and it will pay to follow her progress if her connections chose to race her in the main Mysore season. 

On a day five favourites justified their top billing, the Sulaiman schooled Regal Reality, lesser fancied Sassy from the stables of Rajesh Babu and the Arjun Manglorkar-trained Estelle were three other winners in the final nine-event card.
