The winner, who opened  at (5/2),, the grey Regal Aristocracy garnering maximum support soon was slammed in the betting ring and before the eight runners came under the starter's flag following the withdrawal of Sling Shot and Wanganui, it was Force Of Nature piloted by Sai Kiran who topped the betting board. On the strength of his impressive victory in his last essay, the Sulaiman-trained Valiant Stream piloted by leading pro Akshay Kumar was fancied most in the MB Appaya Memorial Trophy and the public rage needed to stretch every sinew to peg back the gallant effort of Never Give In partnered by leading pro Antony Raj. The runner-up produced sparkling turn of foot in the final furlong and quickly bridged the gap before the winning post came to the rescue of the public choice. Despite not being favourably placed at the top of the straight, Jersey King covered good ground and quickly whizzed past the well fancied Spectacular to win with a degree of comfort. The Dominic trainee is in great heart and is set to provide an encore.

The Suresh-trained Night Raider and the Mandanna schooled Mystic Charm topped the betting board in the final event, the Southern Ruler Plate before Mystic Charm was installed firm favourite after Night Raider was withdrawn at the gates. The public choice to the joy of her supporters streaked ahead at a crucial juncture and looked set to score before the promising five-kilo claimer Talib astride the lesser fancied Red Falcon set alight the Suraj Shaw ward and Red Falcon devoured ground to zip past Mystic Charm and romp home by a widening margin of more than five lengths at end. The winner it appears is in good nick and it will pay to again support this Suraj Shaw ward when next saddled.
