Before Red Bishop’s success later in the day, Pesi Shroff had earlier saddled two winners, Rosario and Bishop, to achieve a treble. Rosario, upstaged by Dreamer during their last encounter, was entrusted to the 5-kg claimer S. Siddharth on this occasion giving him a decisive weight advantage. As soon as the starter’s flag came down, Rosario (Western Aristocrat – Satellite) took up the running and bowled along merrily in front over the mile trip for the SS Shah Salver, enjoying an uncontested lead right up till the winning post. Top-weighted Break Point chased the winner all the way until Dreamer rallied in the straight to finish runner-up. Opus Dei and Seneca failed to improve and trailed behind.
 
Vivek-ridden Bishop also went on a pillar-to-post mission in the Shamu Chavan Salver, a seven-furlong event. Storm Cloud raced on the haunches of the leader till entering the straight where Dedication went in pursuit along with Don Julio. Despite having a three-length lead in the final furlong, Bishop (Deauville – Winds of Fortune) was hard ridden by Vivek to scrape through for a narrow win by a short-head over Dedication while Don Julio finished half a length in third. Rambler was distant fourth. Spanish Eyes was fractious inside the gates and was declared a non-starter.
 
The piping-hot favourite Pure Soul from Prasanna Kumar’s string proved to be too good for her opponents in the maiden set vying for the SK Sunderji Salver. Pure Soul led the field from the moment the gates opened and brought the eleven-horse field into the straight. Trevor Patel then nudged Pure Soul (Phoenix Tower – Strong Storm) and the filly responded by extending her lead, leaving her rivals fighting for the minor places. New Star came with a late run to be second, while Acrobatic held on to the third berth from Rogue. Britannia and Money Spinner, the pair hailing from Shroff’s stables, probably needed this run as they finished six and seventh behind Frenzy.
 
Adhirajsingh Jodha had a brace of winners too, saddling the favourite duo — Gold Bar and Rizz to victory. Apprentice Ramswarup had Gold Bar racing in close attendance of Adonis and Aeon Flux, who made the initial running, and produced his mount on the outside at the turn. Gold Bar (French Navy – Gold Bag) accelerated well to pin down Aeon Flux soon after entering the straight and skipped away fluently to make it two in a row on promotion in the BK Lagad Salver (Div-II). Zephyr ran second ahead of Neutron, who edged out Aeon Flux for the third spot. Gold Bar’s main adversary Queen Caroline planted in the gates leaving her followers high and dry.
 
Rizz cautiously followed Rafael, whose rider lost his stirrups at the start, in the initial stages of the six-furlong sprint for the first division of the BK Lagad Salver and was eased into the lead by A. Sandesh when the heads turned for home. Rizz veered out slightly under pressure even as Neeraj Rawal-piloted Red Lightning was gaining ground. Sandesh, however, skilfully warded off Red Lightning’s assault, enabling Rizz (French Navy – Providence) to escape the former’s clutches by a whisker. Tranquila finished third ahead of Believe.
 
The three-year-old maiden filly Funny Bunny made amends for her previous failure by scoring a comfortable win in the Uttam Singh Trophy run over the distance of nine-furlongs. Antony Raj settled Funny Bunny in the mid-pack of a closely bunched field as Merchant of Venice called the early shots before surrendering the lead of Acropolis while turning for home. Acropolis led briefly and was soon joined and passed by PS Chouhan-saddled Funny Bunny about a furlong from the winning line. Funny Bunny (Phoenix Tower – See The Sunrise) quickened well and sailed away for an easy victory over late-finishing Land of Plenty, who took the runner-up slot ahead of Acropolis and Tajiri in a close finish.
 
Mansingh Jadhav-groomed Howling Wolf also graduated from the maiden ranks in the Janardhan Salver, the day’s curtain raiser. NS Parmar-partnered Howling Wolf lacked early speed and raced in the rear till the final turn as House of Lords showed the way to the field and conceded the lead to Moment of Madness in the final furlong. Meanwhile, Howling Wolf (Moonlight Magic – Chef D’oeuvre) made steady progress to humble Moment of Madness by a length close home. Moment of Madness took the runner-up position ahead of Etoile, who improved towards the end, and Between Friends.
 
The recently licensed apprentice jockey Saurav Rawat made a winning debut astride Malesh Narredu’s ward Golden Heart in the Nana Raghunath Salver, the concluding event. Gibson Knott (formerly named Maysara) led the field before making way  at the turn for Fay, who led briefly until challenged strongly and overtaken by S. Zervan-piloted Beyond Stars in the straight. Meanwhile, Golden Heart (Planetaire – She’s Zoff) inched closer as Rawat cajoled her and the filly stretched out nicely towards the end to snatch victory from Beyond Stars in the last few strides before the wire. Flashman came third ahead of Ashwa Ankara. Favourite South Beach struggled throughout and finished down the field.
