Trainer Prasanna Kumar leading Stud Poker (Antony Raj S up), winner of The Zavaray S Poonawalla Mysore 2000 Guineas (Gr.3)

Leading saddle artiste Antony Raj cornered glory on the second classic day. The top pro recorded a grand treble including his victory astride Stud Poker in the Zavaray Poonawalla 2000 Guineas. Antony first struck through the lesser fancied My Solitaire in the lower division of the Nainital Plate run over a sprint before booting home the public rage in the second classic of the season and later completed a treble, guiding home the second in demand at the betting ring, Star Of Light in the concluding event.

Astride My Solitaire, Antony favourably placed at the top of the straight  packed punch to assume command approaching the distance post and gamely pegged back the challenge of Star Symphony. The Narayan Gowda-trained Makoto garnered the maximum support in the event, but the public choice lacked the gas in the tank to make a favourable impression and eventually finished a tame third.

On the piping hot favourite Stud Poker from the stables of champion trainer Prasanna Kumar in the mile long classic event, Antony decided to hit the front from the word go and make them all run and his catch me if you can tactic brought home the desired result, his four rivals unable to hunt down the winner. Mention must be made that the Sulaiman Attaollahi schooled Bullet Proof, who was tipped to upset the applecart of the public choice broke down entering the straight and this made the task of Stud Poker easy at end. The Irfan Ghatala-trained Black Irish piloted by Alex Rozario followed Stud Poker home ahead of Arc Of Life from Satish Narredu's yard.

In line for a treble, Antony in the concluding event, the Coorg Plate needed to stretch every sinew to complete the `trick',  biding his time for most part of the mile long trip before timing his final challenge to a nicety. The winner snuffed out the challenge of rank outsider Kallania, who looked set to score approaching the final furlong before Star Of Light spoilt the party. The Uthaiah-trained Mighty Hero, who looked best in the parade ring topped the betting chart in this event, but the `Hero' ended a big `zero' failing to even save money in place.

Earlier in the day, the Prithviraj schooled Your Sri Shakthi shed her maiden status in resplendent style donkey-licking her nine rivals including the well supported Osaka from the stables of James McKeown, who continues to disappoint. The winner, it must be mentioned looks a goodtype of youngster and more will be heard of her in the month ahead.

Built in the classic mould, the public rage Moon Oracle from the stables of Prasanna Kumar proved too good for her nine rivals in the upper division of the Original Vel Racing Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner after a couple of impressive efforts provided jockey Akshay Kumar an arm-chair ride to success, putting the race to bed a furlong from home. Sensuous followed the smart winner home and this Aravind Ganapathy ward, who will benefit most from this exercise will make her presence felt in the weeks ahead.

The ten to one long shot Balgownie was another, who surprised the followers of form, producing a sparkling gallop in the hands of Inayat to zip home in style in the Hotel RRR Trophy. The B Suresh-trained Zephyrine cornered good support, but the public choice raced in patches and eventually finished in the ruck.
