Unbeaten from his last six starts, top sprinter Money Bags from champion trainer Prasanna Kumar's yard emerged champ in the Zavaray Poonawalla Dasara Sprint Championship and on the strength of his half-dozen facile wins is certain to start favourite in the Sprinters' Cup during the Derby and the Invitation Cup week-end scheduled to be held on Oct 24 & 25.

Pitted against two speedy customers, facile last start winner Masato and Reiko, who posted two wins in the Bangalore summer season, Money Bags didn't really need to get into top gear cruising home nice and easy to maintain his winning streak in the hands of leading pro Trevor Patel, who is likely to partner him in the top sprint event. Masato hit the front and called the shots till the heads turned for home and even before the leader quickened, Money Bags stormed up to zip past the John ward and it was all over bar the shouting. The Aravind Ganapathy schooled Echoes Of Time finished on purposefully at end to gain the runner-up berth ahead of Crown Drive, while Masato only managed to complete the frame.

The vastly improved and in-form Seeking Alpha justified his top billing in the Bottolanda Mittoo Chengappa Memorial Trophy run over a mile. The winner confidently piloted by Trevor Patel made every post a winning one without really moving a muscle. Still I Rise did well to gain the runner-up berth ahead of the Satish Narredu schooled Touch Of Grey, who was fancied most and tipped to upset the applecart of Seeking Alpha, but the grey despite Suraj Narredu packing punch found the first two too hot to handle and finished a tame third.

The B Suresh schooled Night Raider who lost a race which he should have won in his last essay was again fancied strongly to come up tops in the Mysore City Trophy, but the top choice again disappointed and let down large following failing to even save money in place. Second in demand at the betting ring, Grizzly from the stables of Somashekar produced a sparkling gallop at the all-important end to prevail in a thrilling finish from Winter Agenda and Rising Tycoon, who caught the eye while finishing an eye-catching third behind Winter Agenda.

On the strength of his impressive last start win, the Gnanashekar-trained Martino partnered by the chote nawab of the Charminar city, Akshay Kumar was fancied most in the concluding event, the lower division of the Justice P Medapa Memorial Trophy  and the public choice to the joy of his supporters produced another top draw effort to register his second straight success. Last start winner Sunway Lagoon finished a game second ahead of Live The Dream who is struggling to make his presence felt in this class.
The upper division of the event saw last start winner Malet Spring upset the applecart of the piping hot favourite Mystikos piloted by Suraj Narredu. The hotly fancied Mystikos, it was clear found the sprint trip a trifle sharp to negotiate though he was seen finishing on fastest at end. The speedy Mark One finished a suggestive third and is one for the notebook.

The Ranjeet Shinde-trained Teresa, who is yet to shed her maiden status from her 11 career starts again failed to do so, failing to match strides with the long shot Star Honour in the opening event run over a distance of seven furlongs. Second in demand at the betting ring, Art Of Romance like Teresa failed to break ice, remaining a maiden after 19 efforts. Nizbati Queen did well to finish in the money.

Last stat winner Satin Lass was fancied to provide an encore competing in the Autumn Blue Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs but all that the Somashekhar ward did was finish a tame third behind the five to one shot winner Cossette and the runner-up Chief Admiral, another from Suresh's yard who is struggling to pick up his cornbill.
