All the good bets turned out good. And the followers of form raked in the moolah. Five favourites and a couple of well fancied second choices, the punters couldn't have asked for anything better. Be it the small or the big bettors, all returned home with a definite spring in their stride, satisfied with the results before the two big ticket events, the Mysore Derby and the Indian Turf Invitation Cup on Oct 24 & 25.

Leading trainer Rakesh and top saddle artiste Antony Raj set the trend, successfully combining to strike it rich in the opening event, the lower division of the Sea Mist Plate run over a sprint. On the strength of her suggestive effort in her last essay, Seductive garnered maximum support and the favourite readily justified her ranking, confidently sprinting home to the delight of the railbirds. Nakshatra from Mansoor Khan's yard followed the smart winner home ahead of Super Sexy, while Dakshin Vijay from the stables of P Krishna was never in the hunt.

The upper division of the event was claimed by Saro Fly partnered by the promising apprentice Mohd.Talib. The winner from Somashekar's yard was strongly fancied ahead of the two other fancied contestants, Trump Baby and City Of Hustle and the public choice without raising a sweat made every post a winning one. Saro Fly on the strength of this win is tipped to score again in the higher class, when saddled next. Indra Sena surprised most gaining the runner-up spot, while Trump Baby, who lost a couple of lengths at the start and City Of Hustle performed below par much to the disappointment of their supporters.

Second behind Vibrant Queen in her last essay,  Gloriousness from Satish Narredu's yard was fancied most in the upper division of the Maj.Sardar L Mahadevaiah Memorial Trophy and the favourite confidently piloted by RN Darshan proved too good for her 11 rivals, cantering home in splendid style. Selma finished a game second behind the winner, while the four to one shot Joondalup in the hands of apprentice jockey Aleemuddin failed to even save money in place.

The upper division of the event produced a thrilling finish, the overwhelming favourite Quantum from Michael Eswer's yard and the Darius Byramji schooled Bright Thunder flashing past the post locked together before Bright Thunder gained the day. The saddle artistry of Antony Raj astride Bright Thunder is what made the difference in this tight contest. While Antony in no mood to lose the thriller produced his best, Shreyas Singh in the final furlong lost control and allowed his mount to drift out, which cost Quantum dear at end. Had Shreyas kept a straight course while he made his final challenge, he without a doubt would have emerged the winner, but that didn't happen and Darius and Antony had the last laugh. In line for a hat-trick, the Neil Devaney schooled Brave Heart produced another sterling effort, but that was just not good enough to register a hat-trick on this day.

The on-money favourite Power Of Beauty was the only other favourite to bite the dust. Competing in the K Thammanna Gowda Memorial Trophy the Pradeep ward was touted a `moral certainty' but as luck would have, the public rage burst his blood vessels during the race and eventually finished in the ruck. Second in demand at the betting ring, Sassy Sarah from the stables of champion trainer Prasanna Kumar partnered by Aleemuddin recorded her third straight win this season and all credit to Prasanna, who has done exceedingly well to keep this filly at the top of her game all through the two-month season.

The piping hot favourite Dear Lady from Uthaiah's yard helped Antony record a splendid treble, coming up trumps in the concluding event, the Esquire Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. Eco System from Surender's yard caught the eye while finishing strongly at end to gain the runner-up berth and on the strength of this impressive showing is likely to stake claim to enter the winners' circle, when saddled next.

The Faraz Arshad-trained Renoir was another on-money favourite, who safely carried the big public purse to victory in the gruelling ten furlongs event. The in-form Ashhad Asbar produced a copybook effort on the winner, who is set to provide an encore. Arjun Manglorkar-trained Estelle, who was tipped to upset the applecart of the favourite by the Arjun camp found the going tough and had to settle with the runner-up berth.
