DREAMER CANTERS HOME TO REACH THE HIGHEST CLASS IN THE MAIN EVENT

By Usman Rangila | 22 Oct 2026 | PUNE

Trainer M K Jadhav leading Dreamer (N S Parmar up), winner of The A. J. Wadia Plate

The Mansingh Jadhav trained filly Dreamer, who was racing in Class II despite have only two victories under her belt, reached the highest class when recording an emphatic win in the AJ Wadia Plate, Thursday’s feature event. As Break Point was declared hors de combat on reaching the starting gates due to a splayed shoe, Nikhil Parmar astride Dreamer found himself calling the shots as the three runners jumped out of the gates for the mile journey. Dreamer (Win Legend – Practically Perfect) then toyed with Seneca, who chased the winner in vain. Opus Dei ran hopelessly throughout, having suffered interference at the start and later veering out and travelling on the outer rails in the straight.

Parmar achieved similar success aboard Admirable, the three-year-old filly from PS Chouhan’s yard, who took a flying start from the barriers and was a winner at every stage of the six-furlong sprint for the B. Prakash Salver. Top-weighted Neutralist and Gold Bar were both strongly fancied, but they were outpaced by Admirable (Well Done Fox – Sparkling Crystal), who left her rivals to chase her shadows after entering the home stretch. Neutralist, after racing in the mid-bunch, improved towards the end to finish runner-up, a neck in front of Gold Bar, who stalked the winner from the start. Silver Strike ran a close fourth.

The strong handling of jockey A. Sandesh astride Saint Sizzle proved to be the decisive factor in the finish for the Yogender Singh Salver, which the Nirad Karanjawala trainee won defeating the Ramswarup-ridden favourite Caviar Queen by a neck. Caviar Queen was settled alongside Rogue as Absolute Majesty showed the way to the six-horse field and Saint Sizzle was also in touch with the front-runners. Caviar Queen moved to the fore when turning for home and assumed command after tackling Absolute Majesty. Saint Sizzle drew level with Caviar Queen in the final hundred metres after making steady improvement when Sandesh asked for an effort in the home stretch. Sandesh’s power-packed finish enabled Saint Sizzle (Desert God – Saddle Queen) to inflict defeat on Caviar Queen in the last few strides. Rogue was a distant third ahead of Lucky Diamond.

Despite the odds against pre-race favourite New Star drifting out during race time as Monterey and Scorcher caught the market’s fancy, Malesh Narredu-saddled New Star scored a thumping victory in the Great Strides Plate. Adhirajsingh Jodha’s ward Monterey decided to set his own pace over the mile trip as he took over running soon after the gates opened, while Yash Narredu bided his time in third as Shivalik Superstar was brushed up to be in pursuit of the leader. Monterey tried to sustain his lead as he brought the field into the straight but New Star (Plumatic – New Creation) came with resolute strides to wear down the leader about a furlong and a half from home and went to score his maiden win quite easily. TS Jodha-piloted Scorcher, after languishing in the rear till the turn, desperately tried to throw a challenge at the winner, who was home and dry till then. Monterey stayed in third on sufferance, while Frenzy ran fourth.

Gibson Knott (formerly named Maysara) from Sangramsinh Joshi’s string received enthusiastic support in the betting ring, punters hoping that he would reveal his trademark speed over the five-furlong scurry for the Richelieu Plate. But it did not happen as Rehanullah Khan-schooled ten-year-old mare Moment of Madness (Net Whizz – Crosspatch), ridden confidently by apprentice S. Siddharth, seized the initiative from Gibson Knott after a brilliant start and showed a clean pair of heels to her rivals. Gibson Knott had to settle for second place ahead of Sky Full of Stars, who lost his position after being in the vanguard till entering the straight and started galloping when the race was all but over. Luminosity finished fourth.

Bezan Chenoy-trained Flashman lived up to the promise shown in his previous essay and justified the favouritism in the last race of the day, the Star Millionaire Plate. Unlike his previous runs, Flashman, this time entrusted to Neeraj Rawal, raced well up on this occasion as Adonis embarked on his weight-reducing mission in the front. Flashman overtook Adonis in the straight but faced a strong challenge from Sussing and Ageisjustanumber in the last furlong. Flashman (Dali – Hallelujah) prevailed largely due to Neeraj’s resilience as he survived the onslaught of both Sussing and Ageisjustanumber, who finished a short head and half-length behind the winner. Jetfire improved late to finish fourth.
