Bangalore Winter Season Takes off on Friday

Jayant Shah, Chairman and Senior Steward of the Bangalore Turf Club announced that the 34 day long Bangalore Winter Season shall start on Friday the 9th of November 2007. At a press meet, he said that the Club was offering the highest ever stake money during the coming season. The racing shall be mostly held on Fridays and Saturdays, and the season is scheduled to end on March 29, 2008. He said that 46 "A" licensed trainers and 70 jockeys are likely to be seen in action during the said period. The track was in wonderful shape and would be able to comfortably handle five months of intense racing. The Marketing Committee at the Club has brought in 4 new sponsors for this season. The Fernhill Palace Bangalore 1000 Guineas is being sponsored by Sri Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar. The D P Sharma Memorial Sprinters Trial Stakes is being sponsored by Shri Suresh Sharma in the memory of his late father who was a very keen racegoer, horse owner and a member of this club for many decades. The P Dayananda Pai and P Satish Pai Bangalore Winter Million is being sponsored by the two brothers who are long standing club members at the BTC. The Heeroji Lad Bangalore Juvenile Million is being sponsored by Shri Anil Lad. The Bangalore Turf Club has announced a new scheme for its racing patrons. Those wishing to participate in this scheme should visit the official website of the Club www.bangaloreraces.com and register with their e-mail ids. All racing updates, handicaps, acceptances and racing reports shall be forwarded to them by the Club regularly. BTC would offer this facility to its patrons free of charge. Over 300 2-year olds are expected to make their racing debuts at the BTC this year. Most of them have arrived and the rest are expected shortly. Jayant Shah promised clean and fair racing during the season and assured everybody present that the race supervision shall be of the highest order. The official track reporter of our website H. Sharanappa informs us that the wards of trainers Ganapathy, Padmanabhan, Dhariwal, Arjun Mangalorkar, Darius Byramji and Michael Eshwer are in forward condition. These gentlemen have been working their horses for quite a long time, and their wards are likely to strike early in the season. He suggests that it would be prudent to follow the following horses in the months ahead -- Local Warrior, Colonel Duff, On The Dot, Mothers Pride, Romantic Scene, Arabian Knight, Lord of Illusion, Swift Fire, Aggasiz, Sweeping Success, Imperial View, Confident Victory, Golden Edition, My Turn, Splendid Surprise, Lucky Gold Star, Win Pretty Baby, Noble Prince, Western Command, Upper Crust, Yourebeautiful, Arabian Memories, Western Spark, Rio Bravo and River Blush.
