Warrior Race is Master of The Show

Warrior Race turned out to be a true warrior while emerging victorious in the Equal Chance Plate, the main event at the Delhi races on Monday. Sartaj Singh, who trained the victor, was the lone professional to earn a double. Interestingly, the brace came for him after a gap of many years. Having had sent out in top hole, there was hardly any doubt about Warrior Race’s potential considering the fact that two horses - Alabaster and Master Arts, who finished behind him later went on to prove their mettle in their respective events. The son of Itaquere Power and Armies Of Light chose to run behind Show On and Master Shub Shubh until he pushed back the second named near the final furlong of the sprint distance.

However, he had to sweat out under the guidance of the visiting jockey J Chinoy to foil the bid of Show On by getting three-parts-of-a-length. He has the strides which may even bring laurels over the longer trip. The loser is also expected to make amends soon. Sartaj Singh-trained Shailu (Hurricane – Donyses) shed his maiden status by making every post a winning one (though narrowly) in the upper division of The Photofinish Plate. Varun appeared to have finished second under sufferance. Golden Gun, who ran on to be fourth for the third consecutive time, is knocking at the door. Polish Beauty was the other impressive mare to run close fifth. Roopendra Singh Shekhawat's Tapitsfly (Gajendra Singh Shekhawat astride) made a mockery of the field in the lower division of the plate in a pillar-to-post affair.

The mare (daughter of Black Cash and Bon Sang) should complete an encore. Zulfiqar Ali Khan-saddled Kohinoor Beauty (Don Micheletto – Numer Eines), who had finished third after leading the way for a moment in the last outing, created a flutter with the help of Tongue-strap in The Close Finish Plate. Ashwa Prabha, who had to make a long way after struggling for a clear passage at the top of the straight, finished a notable second. The run of Rock Solid, whose prices drifted out after the change of jockey, is best ignored. Sangeet Charan's trainee Bay Of Thunder earned his overdue win by pipping Air Forse One in The B Khanna Memorial Cup. The son of Classic Tale and Thunder Sport has the stamina to win more races over the longer trips. Da Vinci, who rallied through the fence, just failed short to be third ahead of the late-galloping Resilience. Mohsin Khan's yard Dancing Beauty (Flitch – Chalice) was the other runner to have been able to meet with success before the closure of the season.
