Moongate Man Completes A Quadruple

It seems that Moongate Man has developed a winning habit. He crossed the final hurdle to being known as the class one winner when he demolished the opponents in the Smooth Operation Plate, which was the main event at the Delhi races on Friday. Meanwhile, the competition for the Champion Jockey's title has reached an interesting phase after Ranjeet Singh narrowed the gap by earning three wins on Friday. Trainer Mohsin Khan was the other professional to saddle two winners. Moongate Man, the beautiful grey gelding, who hadn’t seen the turf until he attained the age of four, ran true to his form over the five furlongs.

He had also the advantage of being lighter on scale by over 13 kilos to the runner-up Enya. The latter made a quick dash and was seen toiling hard not to allow the son of Steinbeck and Stream Of Love to run freely till the final furlong. But once the Deepak Kalra charge picked up momentum, he made the task easy by completing the course within a minute for the second time. Spot Hit found the trip short for his strides and finished a close third. Mohsin Khan's Energetic girl (Bee’s Prospector – Young Senorita) lived up to expectations by emerging victorious in The Nobody Knows Plate, which was the curtain raiser event of the day. Arthur Saulez's Green Ribbon (Barood – Wings Of Dawn) handed a three-parts-of-a-length defeat to the favourite Happygolucky in the upper division of The Sweet Relation Plate.

The latter should make amends. The latter division of the plate was at the mercy of Narmada. The daughter of Ontario and Fireheba, who had finished an easy third to Katania in her previous outing, was in a pillar-to-post affair to shed the maiden status at the age of five years. Dazzling Win, who finished close fifth after coming from tailend, bears watching. Mohsin Khan's yard Game Of Talent (Diffident –Shocking), who ran fourth to Ashwa Prabha in his last essay, ran true to his reputation while wrapping up The Delhi Race Club Racing Officials Cup. Invisible Force, who was showed out quickly, fell back to the fifth position and had to shift the course at the eleventh hour to finish half-a-length away to the winner. His run should be ignored.

Master Harmonica, who was leading from the front, had to satisfy herself with the third place ahead the favourite Courage Under Fire before being pulled up lame. After enabling Mohsin Khan to lead-in two horses, Ranjeet showed his prowess on Johnny Bravo (Hymn – Ranora) by keeping Foroozan's challenge at bay by a neck. The market-fancied Canadian Gold, who finished off the board, was handled suspiciously as the filly was kept in check till the final curve.
