Red Dawn (Storm Trooper-Serious Trouble) lifted the higher division of the Tranquility Cup, the feature event of the nine-race card at Mysore on Friday. Red Indian jumped out slowly, missing almost two lengths, as the 11 runners took off over the seven-furlong trip but brushed up quickly to get to the front. Nermai and Red Dawn swooped on the tiring Red Indian in the final 100 metres and the latter emerged better by a length at the finish. For trainer B.K. Narendra it was one of the best days of his career, accomplishing a rare hat-trick. Earlier to Red Dawn, he had led in Yankee Lane and Season’s Greetings. Red

Dawn and Yankee Lane were ridden to victory by Jockey M. Madhu Babu. Yankee Lane (Case Law-Zeisha) was pushed through the field by Madhu Babu to take charge near the last 300 metres and held on from the late dash of Fantabulous Prince. Turf Raider, Rashida, Hampton Court and The Force finished in a line with the first-named taking the third place and the rest finishing behind in that order. Season’s Greetings (Brave Hunter-Neoclassic) set out on a start-to-finish mission and kicked on despite drifting out on the home stretch. Serious Warrior held on in the second place, ahead of Arkwright and Sun Device. Lancashire, who was the first favourite, as the field reached the gates, was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Zareer Darashah trained Nicolleta (Hurricane State-Sharifa) made every post a winning one, en-route to her victory in the Yamuna Plate. This run was in contrast to her previous one where she went down as the first favourite, finishing down the field. The turn-around in form was a bit perplexing and the fact that a change in rider from a lesser known Noushad Alam to P.S. Chouhan could have done the trick was a bit hard to be digested by the knowledgeable race-goers. Halo Of Splendour moved from behind but lost all her chances when she went wide on the home stretch and finished third behind Blue Gum. Trainer Rakesh led a popular double on a day of upsets. Mom In Law (Case Law-Miss Biarritz) moved along the rails as the field took the final turn and came around the front-running Aerial Acrobat, to emerge clear in the Nilgiris Plate.

Mom In Law was ridden to victory by jockey S. Rajesh, who is getting back on the saddle for the first time after a road accident and this win should do a lot good to his confidence. The Fuhrer appeared with a late dash to get the better of Aerial Acrobat and finish second. Princess Nero (Brave Act-Glorious Beauty) was backed to the exclusion of the other runners in the Tuticorin Plate, the last race of the day and the four-year-old filly literally ran away from the field. Authoritative was the best of the beaten brigade followed by Eona. Trainer P.C. Tejaswi recorded a good double through Analika and Mexican Wave. Analika (Classic Sport-Silver Dust) improved from a handy position to surge ahead as the horses entered the straight and stretched out to pull off a comfortable victory, in the opener, the Star Angel Plate.

Rain Man was in futile chase while Major Impression appeared late on the wide outside to finish third. Mexikan Wave (Serious Spender-Charismatic) was given a hard ride by B. Sreekanth to register a big win, in the higher division of the Charmudi Ghat Plate. Taking charge 300 metres from home, Mexikan Wave kicked on to push back the strong challenge of Admiranda. Dinesh Pujar trained Miss Mexico (International-Rock Opera) made every post a winning one, in the lower division of the Charmudi Ghat Plate. Faustian was lugging out when he tried to challenge Miss Mexico and finished second. Queen Of Destiny covered plenty of ground to finish third.
