After three futile bids earlier this season, Pratap Kamath's three year old Theworldismine produced a sparkling turn of foot and won The Next Move Cup, the feature event in Monday's race card at Mysore. The well bred colt had crossed swords with Ohiyesa and Gershwin , and had been unfortunate to lose in extremely close finishes. The fact that these horses had progressed to higher Classes, enhanced the chances of Theworldismine in this race. He was opposed by Time For All, who entered the fray with a formidable reputation. This filly had finished powerfully, after missing the kick at the gates, and run a fair second to the highly regarded Ashkan. She had been working brilliantly thereafter and was looking a picture of good health. Monnappa's stable was confident of her chances today. The use of a cross nose band made a lot of difference to the style and running of Theworldismine. The on-money favourite had no problems in going to the front and setting his own pace. There was no evidence today of his usual bad habit of veering out in the straight. Jockey Saddamiqbal was a mere spectator, as this horse powered away in front and ran straight as an arrow. The boy had the time to look back repeatedly in the final stages of this race. Gnaneshwar tried his best on Time For All, but he was fighting a lost cause. The winner was too good for the filly. Skyfleet came with a smooth run to finish in third place. Both Time For All and Skyfleet shall be seen to advantage in the near future. Theworldismine was the only favourite to score in a nine event card ,and will be too good to miss in open company. Trainer Girinath started the day with a bang. He won the first two races of the day with a zero rated Land Of Smiles and Bulbasaur. Both these races were reserved for horses in the lowest Class at Mysore. Land Of Smiles was too powerful for Wellington and Ultra Royal. The low handicap came in very useful for this five year old ,as she skipped clear of her eleven rivals. On the other hand, Bulbasaur had to work hard for his victory. The heavily gambled Big Budget took off like a scalded cat and opened up a huge lead prior to taking the final bend. This effort took its toll as the big made grey stopped in his tracks and faded away from the scene. Bulbasaur came with a smooth run and swept past Son Of Brenhines and Famous For Free. The only other professional to score more than once was Monnappa. After a few unsuccessful efforts in the past weeks, Serious Warrior decided to raise a fluent gallop on Monday. Well supported Noname became a target of some heavy jostling at the start and was unable to recover from that interference.P Krishna rode Demanding in a cavalier fashion and was unusually harsh on the horse. Despite a huge lead at the bend, he continued to belt the nine year old. The leader caved in suddenly and allowed Serious Warrior to go ahead. Show N Tell arrived late on the scene to finish in second place. Gnaneshwar helped Monappa complete his double in the last race of the day. Their ward Mr Magic was the second favourite behind a heavily supported Kangaroo Punch. The latter was appearing on a race track after a break of more than nine months. This fact did not deter his fans from going nap on him. They soon realized their folly, as Kangaroo Punch took time in getting into his fluent strides. It was too late, as Gnaneshwar and Mr Magic had already overtaken Queen Of Destiny and set sail for home. The favourite rallied late to take the second spot , and by doing so, indicated his readiness to strike in the near future. Trainer Rakesh returned from his suspension and saddled a couple of well supported horses. To the dismay of his fans, both Tantrik and Satin Slipper lost close home. Tantrik found Hi Hennessy too speedy on the day, and had to settle for the runner-up berth. Satin Slipper was given a poor ride by apprentice Vijay, who was unable to settle his mount throughout the race. Laguna Blue showed a semblance of his old form, when he unleashed a powerful turn of foot near the bend and sped away from the rest. Swiss Queen rallied late to finish ahead of Satin Slipper. A mile race for horses in the highest Class witnessed a superb finish. Four horses came charging down the straight and finished in close order. Favourite Gold Grid led in the last furlong before Cheetah swept onto him and hit the front. In the meantime, Amazing One and Boston Ranger began devouring ground on the wide outside. Cheetah managed to keep his neck in front of Amazing One, Gold Grid and Boston Ranger. The winner paid a whopping 100/1 at the totalizators.
