Trainer Ranjeet Shinde cornered the day's honours by saddling a fine treble on Thursday at Mysore. His winners included Red Key Point, who posted a thrilling victory in The Hyderabad Race Club Gold Trophy, which happened to be the feature event in a seven race card framed for the afternoon. Nine contestants belonging to the highest Class at Mysore were entered for this mile event, and these included Raider's Sun, Amazing One and War Head. All three of them were carrying a winning penalty, as they had won during the opening weekend of the current season. Brown Sugar, Red Key Point and Gold Grid were the other fancied runners in this race. It was an open betting event with Brown Sugar being marginally favoured ahead of the rest. The race was run at a moderate pace, with Mr Majestic making the early running ahead of Brown Sugar, War Head and Amazing One. The rest were following in close attendance, as they took the rising ground and turned for home. With Mr Majestic running out of steam at this stage, it was Brown Sugar who surged into the lead and seized the advantage over a hard ridden War Head, while Red Key Point began to make a serious effort through the middle of the pack. It was quite evident that Red Key Point was moving the best at this stage. Chandrasekar coaxed him to keep going, and it was Red Key Point who ultimately got up on the last stride to down the colours of Brown Sugar. War Head retained his third spot ahead of Gold Grid. Amazing One was produced on the wide outside, but showed that he was out of depth at the current mark. Ranjeet won the next two races with Wise Words and Hi Hennessy. Wise Words was the medium of a nice gamble and was backed confidently. He was a late entrant to this sport and was running only for the second time at Mysore. The horse showed that he had been tuned to the minute, as he pulverized the opposition and posted an emphatic victory. He ended almost a distance clear of Australis and Green Passion. The winner should be followed in his next couple of starts as he seems to belong to a much higher Class. The treble was completed with Hi Hennessy, who came out and surprised her stablemate Show N Tell. Show N Tell was an odds-on choice in this race, but despite the best efforts of Chandrasekar, could not get the better of a much younger Hi Hennessy. Early leader Bulbasaur packed up near the distance post, and surrendered the third place to a fast finishing Lapiz Lazuli. The winner should win again as she was far from ready for today's race. Hi Hennessy won despite looking "soft" in the paddock. Another trainer who impressed was veteran Darashah. Missiszippi won the maidens race for his stable while Latin Twister put up a creditable performance amongst horses in the lowest Class. Missiszippy won unchallenged from World Is Toomuch and Time Speed. Gnaneshwar took her to the front and eased her up much before the winning post. One should not read too much into this performance, as the field looked to be extremely poor. It was after a real long time that a horse with negative rating won a race at Mysore. Darashah's Latin Twister was rated minus three in this race. With Vijay claiming another three kilos off her back, Latin Twister was carrying a featherweight on her back. She seemed to relish the going, as she improved steadily from the rear and won this mile race in a close finish ahead of Khoka. Favourite Arisia had an off day and ran a poor race. The day's racing concluded with a superb performance from Hawaiian Sunrise. This seven year old had joined Bobby's stable at the start of this season, after winning a race during the Bangalore Winter .A winner of her first start a couple of weeks ago, Hawaiian Sunrise had received a stiff penalty for that effort. She had few supporters this afternoon, as the betting was centred around Darashah's Fire Of Joy and Pujar's Ride and Shine. John was content to keep Hawaiian Sunrise in second place till well into the straight, before asking her for an effort. The response was immediate, as she lengthened her strides and ran away from a late finishing Amelia Cordell. Favourite Fire Of Joy rallied on the rails to keep the third spot ahead of a tiring Thunder on. Fire Of Joy seemed to need this run, and should be a different proposition in her next start. Ride and Shine was unable to go to the front, and ultimately ended a poor fifth. In her present form and condition, Hawaiian Sunrise is capable of completing a hat-trick in her next start.
