Abdullah Beats The Tempting Thought

Abdullah seemed to have developed a habit of eclipsing the favourites. After thrashing Flight Of Fancy in the previous outing, the colt sank the boat of Tempting Thought in the west Bengal Plate, the main event at the Delhi races on Friday. Visiting jockey Chhotu Singh Jodha, trainers Ishwar Singh Parmar and Aleem Khan booted home a double each. Two jockeys, Rajinder Saini and K Sunny Kumar, who have been refrained from using the whip till the end of the season, went down the memory lane of their apprenticeship by guiding the fortunes of Abdullah and What A Sight respectively.Despite conceding weight against the other five companions, Rajinder chose to settle Tempting Thought behind Aali Janaab till the top of the homestraight of the six-furlong event.

Improving from fourth to third position, Saini found his mount Abdullah so keen that he could have surged ahead before making headway for the final furlongs. However, insufficient space at the rails forced Saini to pull the colt of Itaquere Power and College Princess out to stake a claim and finally got half-a-length better of the favourite, whose run is best ignored. The winner has the stride to even achieve success over the longer trip. Awesome and Whiff Of Money (who returned lame), who finished fourth and fifth respectively behind Aali Janaab, are worth following.

Neko made the racegoers keep their fingers crossed till he recovered from the early hiccup of slow start to be fourth behind Bhoomi Putra, Elemento Trance and Bekapai. Seeing the first and second named wasting their energy by getting away from each other, the son of San Francisco and Candela used the opportunity to push them back to second and third place inside the distance post in the upper division of The Rare Sight Plate. The lower division of the plate saw What A Sight (Eljohar-Rare Sight) making every post a winning one. Her supremacy was challenged by the runner-up Kamakhya on the ground of hampering his way but the stewards turned down the plea. Foroozan and Flying Rock, who was in after the gap of a season, held on to third and fourth place.

Both are knocking at the door. Overcoming his poor performance at the earlier outing, Resilience (Juniper-Zatiden) stunned the lower class runners in the Infantary Plate. The pubic fancied Mystic Miracle was seen running green in the third place behind Bismark. Chhotu atop Roaming Fame (Ontario-Here Goes) registered a facile victory without sweating out in the My Great Hope Plate. He made the heavily backed Fanaa scapegoat. Rawsom (Ontario-Night Of Gaiety) brought the curtain down by leading from front in The Brigade Plate.
