Trainer KSV Prasad Raju reached the milestone of saddling 1000 winners during his career that spanned three decades. Trainer KSV Prasad Raju was 27 years old when he won the first race of his career in 1995 and now at 57 years old, he won for the 1,000th time in his career when Sangreal ridden by Suraj Narredu won the ninth race on Monday at Hyderabad. Team Indiarace congratulates trainer Prasad Raju on his memorable achievement.

Nelson Reuben sadly passed away earlier today in Calcutta. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest jockeys to have graced the Calcutta turf in the seventies and eighties. His unique style of horsemanship fetched him classics galore. Perhaps the one most recalled by oldtimers was his victory atop Topmost in the Indian Derby of 1974. Nelson lived up to his name and enjoyed a huge fan following all over the country during an era when Calcutta jockeys ruled the roost- his contemporaries Robin Corner and Richard Alford to name a couple of others. Nelson will always be remembered fondly by local railbirds.

Finally Btc has got the license to conduct offcourse betting. It's a part time license, only from Sept 1 to 16. It will be renewed once the club agrees to the conditions of the government regarding the shifting and the compromise petition before the supreme court in its egm on Sept 16. It's a big relief from btc's point of view and hopefully all goes well and racing continues after Sept 16 too.

Jockey Suraj Narredu scored his first victory at JRA astride 3 year old bay filly Fier Chant over 2600 metres at Sapporo Japan. Trained by Kensuke Ogura. Jockey Suraj Narredu thereby achieved the distinction of being the first Indian jockey to score a win at Japan. Indiarace congratulates Suraj for his success and wishes him many more. Great day for India indeed.

Trainer Dr Anil Kumar passed away this morning at 11:00 am in Dehradun after an illness. He was 60. Indiarace extends condolences to the bereaved family.
