In a bid to attract the railbirds to witness the second classic of the season, the Indian 2000 Guineas at Mahalaxmi on Sunday, the management committee of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), spearheaded by SR Sanas have introduced a contest of skill and the racing buffs at this premier racing centre, while appreciating the offer from the club are all geared to throng the gates, ready to pick the winner of the classic.
The Pesi Shroff-trained Zacharias to be piloted by Oisin Murphy, one of the best in the world of racing, will start the favourite and it is needless to mention, most punters will nominate the Pesi ward in their effort to take home, the first prize of Rs, 15 lakh. The second placed winner will pick up five lakh and half
that amount will be awarded to the individual, who is placed third. This apart, a sum of Rs 2.5 lakh is offered in cash for a couple of consolation prizes and the mandarins of the club are confident that the attendance will double taking into account that the free contest of skill has generated a buzz in the racing circles. In case of more than one winner picking the winner right, a draw of lots will determine the result of the first three winners.
