Racing Incidents
Jockey S. Selvaraj, the rider of CANNAVARO, was fined Rs.5,000/- for feeble handling of his mount during the race. He was further informed that a repetition of similar manner of riding would entail him being reported to the Stewards for severe action. Trainer Mr. V. Narayana Gowda was questioned regarding the poor performance of his charge SYMBOL OF SPEED (G. Adarsh). The trainer stated that (a) after its previous run at Mysore his charge developed slight tendon problem; (b) therefore it was under light work; (c) this was its first run after a long gap; and (d) he expects it to improve after this run. His explanations were noted for future reference.
