CALCUTTA RACES

SUMMER MEETING, SEVENTH DAY, SUNDAY, 3RD APRIL, 2011 2nd RACE (236) THE FLASH TOY CUP – For Horses Rated 00-25 - To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (2.30/2.32) : 7 runners

the conclusion of a Stewards enquiry held after the last race on 4th April, 2011 into the running and riding of b f CHERISH THE MOMENT in the above race, App Arman Khan was found guilty for violating Rule 159(b) of the RCTC Rules of Racing in that during the early stages of the race he took a hold on his mount and placed it at the rear of the field thereby putting the filly in a position of disadvantage, thereafter, in the middle stages of the race when in clear running he failed to improve his position thereby continuing to keep the filly in a position of disadvantage and on entering the straight when again his mount was in clear running he did not infuse adequate vigour to his riding till the final 100 metres of the race.

When deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the record of the apprentice, points of mitigation and decided that Apprentice Jockey Arman Khan’s permission to ride in races be withdrawn for the period 14th April to 14th October, 2011 (both days inclusive). The apprentice is not permitted to ride work during the above period and was informed of his right to appeal. Further, the Stewards fined Tr. D M David a sum of Rs. 50,000/- under the provisions of RCTC Rules of Racing 159 ( c ) for being party to the breach of Rule 159(b) in that he instructed App Arman Khan, the rider of his charge CHERISH THE MOMENT, in such a manner that this disadvantaged it from being given full opportunity to obtain the best possible position in the field. Tr. D M David was cautioned regarding the future running of his charges and thereafter informed of his right to appeal.
