VICTORY VIBES (M F Ali Khan) jumped awkwardly ‘inwards’ as the start was effected. CANDLE IN THE WIND (S Rabbani, drawn 3) jumped awkwardly ‘outwards’ from the gates bumping into and carrying SUPREME CONQUEROR (C Alford, drawn 4) on to SECRET REWARD (B Mahesh, drawn 5) which was checked by its rider. At a subsequent enquiry it was established that the incident was accidental and as such, no action was taken beyond cautioning Jockey S Rabbani to be more alert in future. During the concluding stages of the race ALEXANDER (App Mohit Singh) placed 2nd by the Judge, under pressure from its rider was observed to drift ‘outwards’ and run into the heels of WELCOME SMILE (Shailesh Shinde) placed 1st by the Judge causing App Mohit Singh to momentarily lose his balance and stirrup irons. An enquiry is being held into this incident and the results will be announced later. Jockey Md. Imran, the rider of BHIMA, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in the early and middle stages of the race. The jockey was further cautioned to ensure that in future he rides his mounts in such a manner that leaves no room for query.
At the conclusion of the enquiry into the incident of App Mohit Singh, the rider of b c ALEXANDER, momentarily losing his balance and stirrup irons in the concluding stages of the race, it was established that the sudden outward drift of the colt was due to the faulty use of the whip by the apprentice. The Stipendiary Stewards taking into consideration the apprentice’s acceptance of his mistake and his willingness to correct himself in the future did not proceed further in the matter. In this regard Mr. Mohit Singh was advised to report to Mr. N W Bird, Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures.
