SCHAFENBERG (Tousif Khan) was subjected to veterinary examination but no abnormality was reported.

Jockey L. Alex Rozario and Assistant Trainer Mr. Vinod Reddy were questioned regarding running and riding of PERIDOT in the above race. The Jockey stated that:

a)    He was instructed to take a good jump and be in a good position, do his best in the straight.
b)    The horse jumped out slowly.
c)    Despite him niggling his mount, it did not show early speed.
d)    His mount gradually came on the bit from about 600 Metres from where he rode out fully but could only finish a close 4th.

The Assistant trainer corroborated the statements of the Jockey.

They were informed by the enquiry officers that their explanations were not at all satisfactory and an enquiry will be held further. This was explained to the Stewards. During the Stewards meeting the Club’s Veterinary Officer reported that the stable staff noticed bleeding from left nostril, which was subsequently confirmed at 5:45 p.m. that PERIDOT burst its blood vessels (on Endoscopy) at the equine hospital. Hence, Trainer Mr. Irfan Ghatala was informed to produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again and also was informed not to accept with it again until its behaviour improved to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a jump out on a starting gate practice day.
