CASHMERE SILK arrived late to the start thereby delaying the proceedings of the race. As Tr. Sabeel Shariff had earlier been warned and fined for late arrival of his charges, he has now been given a final warning to school his charges better and ensure they reach the starting gates on time to avoid stricter disciplinary action.

At the request of Jockey Vinay Jaiswal, CASHALAIKA was re-saddled at the start.

NORTHBOUND was slow to begin.

Jockey Nikhil Naidu reported that his mount CASHMERE SILK which jumped outwards from the gates, was hanging out from about the 600 metres of the race. Tr. Sabeel Shariff was advised to take immediate remedial measures in consultation with the Veterinary Doctor.

An objection was lodged by  Jockey Shezad Khan, the rider of DUBAI KING placed 2nd    by the

Judge against Jockey M S Deora, the rider of CYRENAICA placed 1st on the grounds of “from the 300 metres to the winning post he took me out which cost me a certain race”. The Stewards after interviewing Jockeys Shezad Khan and M S Deora, viewing the CCTV replay of the race and taking into consideration the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Stewards, decided to up-hold the objection and to revise the Judge’s placings as under :-
DUBAI KING    -    1st
CYRENAICA    -    2nd
SUPERIMPOSE    -    3rd
MRS BRANDO    -    4th
CASHALAIKA    -    5th
The “All Clear” signal was ordered to be hoisted.

The Veterinary Officer reported that CASHALAIKA and SUPERIMPOSE returned bleeding from their nostrils. Trs. Sabeel Shariff and Shafiq Khan were advised not to accept with their respective charges until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
