ALPINE COUNT (App Vikash Tamang) and TEMPTATION (M Mark) were slow to begin losing approximate two lengths at the start.

Passing the distance post TINTORETTO (App Mohit Singh) under pressure drifted to the outer portion of the race track.

BADAL (App Ajoy Roy) ran detached from the field. Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

A Stewards enquiry was held after the last race into the running and riding of b c ALPINE COUNT in the above race. The Stewards interviewed Tr. Patrick Quinn, App Vikash Tamang and master Trainer Mr. F A Rodrigues (Jr). At the conclusion of the enquiry App Vikash Tamang pleaded guilty to the charge of “incompetent riding (Rule 161(ii)” in that during the early stages of the race he took a hold of his mount thereby placing it in a position of disadvantage i.e., approximately 6 to 7 lengths away from the field. The Stewards, while deciding on the penalty, took into consideration the record of the apprentice, points of mitigation and decided that Apprentice Jockey Vikash Tamang’s permission to ride in races be withdrawn on 13^th , 17^th & 23^rd August, 2011. The apprentice is permitted to ride work during the above period of suspension and was also informed of his right to appeal. App Vikash Tamang was directed to report to Mr. N W Bird, the Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures. Further, the Stewards resolved to caution :-

1. Tr. Patrick Quinn to be more explicit with his instructions to an apprentice specially in races which are run over longer distances and to report immediately to the Stipendiary Stewards any discrepancies that he notices in the performance of jockeys.
2. Master Tr. F A Rodrigues (Jr) to exercise prudence while granting permission to his apprentices to ride horses which are not trained by him.
