b g PORAS was examined by the Veterinary Officer behind the starting gates and found to be lame on right fore. Under the circumstances the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s orders. Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer. The Stipendiary Stewards are enquiring into the late withdrawal of b g PORAS.

FENICIA (App Sujit Kr Paswan) was slow to begin.

LE CORBUSIER (Hindu Singh) finished the race detached from the field. Jockey Hindu Singh when questioned as to the running of his mount stated that the gelding was travelling well till the five furlong marker and thereafter failed to respond to his repeated urgings. Tr. Vijay Singh was advised to get his charge examined by the Veterinary Officer and report ailment, if any, and not to accept with the gelding until it was capable of a better performance.

Under the circumstances the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s orders. Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer. The Stipendiary Stewards enquiredinto the late withdrawal of b g PORAS.At the conclusion of the enquiry the Stipendiary Stewards made note of thestatements made by the following :-

a)Jockey Mohit Singh : stated that on reaching the starting gate he requested the Veterinary Officer to examine the gelding as in his opinion the gelding was not striding fluently.

b)The Veterinary Officer :on examination found the gelding had a inflamedright forecapped elbowdue to which the gelding was in discomfort and hence he ordered the withdrawal of the gelding from the race.

c)The Syce of b g PORAS, Mr. Pramod Paswan: stated that the gelding had suffered from a swollen capped elbowwhich had ruptured some days ago and thereafter the gelding seemed to be “fine”.

d)Tr. Mr. Jasbir Singh : stated that the gelding by habit had an awkward gait. Asthe capped elbow had punctured a week earlier and thegeldinghad shown no side effects in work or otherwise he accepted the gelding to run in the race.

The Stipendiary Stewards made note of the statements and decided to take no further action other than strongly advising Mr. Jasbir Singh that in future suchincidentsshould be reported to the Veterinary Officer and seek his advice before accepting his charge to run in race failing which he would be liable for such action as deemed fit.
