b g ASTERIX which was unruly in the paddock and on its way to the start refused to be re- saddled at the starting gates and was declared a non starter. Tr. Javed Khan was advised to school his charge adequately before accepting with it again.

LEGEND RETURNS, TORONERO and LIGHTINTHESKY were slow to begin.

The Veterinary Officer reported that MISTY GREY which was fractious, started showing signs of distress at the starting gates. Under the circumstances the filly was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and treated immediately.

Jockey Vinay Jaiswal, the rider of SHIVALIK SILK, was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for shifting course to the outside inconveniencing and bumping into OUR CHOICE passing the 400 metres.

Jockey Hindu Singh, the rider of PROSPEROUS PRINCE, was fined a sum of Rs. 5000/- for allowing his mount to drift out and bump into THALAMES passing the distance post.

App Hasib Alam, the rider of SUN GOD, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for bumping into PROSPEROUS PRINCE passing the 300 metres.

EASTERN EMPRESS brushed against the running rails passing the 300 metres. Jockey Vivek G was cautioned to exercise greater control over his mounts in future.

Tr. Shyam Habbu when asked to explain the improved performance of his charge SUN GOD stated that:-

1.    After a hard monsoon season I gave my horse SUN GOD a break so that he could freshen up before the winter meeting.

2.    I accepted to run my charge over 1400 metres compared to its previous run and put up the same boy claiming 2 kgs allowance, probably the extra 200 metres allowed my horse to settle better in the race.

3.    The field that my charge was running in was equally poor, I was pleasantly surprised with the win and happy for my owner to have led in a winner on New Year’s Day.
