TIME was difficult to load. SPACECRAFT was fractious in its stall.
SAGITTARII and VENENO were slow to begin.

TIME was eased up by Jockey P S Chouhan in the concluding stages of the race. The Veterinary Officer was requested to examine the mare and submit his report. Tr. Patrick Quinn was advised not to accept with his charge until it was capable of a better performance.

Jockey S Saqlain, the rider of SPACECRAFT, reported that his left rein slipped as he jumped out from the gate.

Jockey Kuldeep Singh (SWIFT LADY) was cautioned for allowing his mount to drift out in the concluding stages of the race.

Tr. Aashay Doctor and Jockey Nikhil Naidu when questioned regarding the running and riding of ch c THALAMES, the trainer stated that :-

a) I asked the Jockey to sit well up and judge the pace. If the pace was slow he can even go to the front and set his own pace.
 
b) I also asked him to start asking the horse to "wake up" by the 600m as he does not have a turn of foot and likes to improve gradually.

c) After the race my observations were that the Jockey took a decent jump to make a position but lost that position easily when the field closed in and he had no room to keep that position.

Jockey Nikhil Naidu stated that :-

a) My instructions were to go to the front if nobody sets the pace or else sit 2nd or 3rd and thereafter from 600 mts I was asked to pick up the horse as he doesn't have a turn of foot.

b) After the jump I found myself in 2nd position just behind Swift Lady. After a furlong or so I was passed by all the other horses from the outside and I had no option but to sit there and wait. According to the instructions I pulled him out at the 800 mts and started improving and got into a better position. Into the straight I was carried out by Swift Lady to the extreme outside where he did not pass her and finished on 4th.

While noting down their explanations, Jockey Nikhil Naidu was advised to be more alert during the running of races whereby he can act accordingly as per the pace of the race so as not to put his mounts in disadvantageous positions.

The Veterinary Officer reported that SAGITTARII returned with a cut injury on its right hind.
