Trainer P.Krishna and Jockey Janardhan Paswan were questioned regarding the running and riding of STAR LIGHTENING. Trainer P.Krishna stated that in his previous outing he ran 1400 metres and went to the front and returned bleeding from both nostrils. Therefore, this race being a mile he wanted to settle the horse in 4th, 5th or 6th position and only after coming in the straight to do his best. When questioned Jockey Janardhan Paswan confirmed the instructions and stated that he tried his best to follow his instructions but the horse was throwing his head up for half of the race and after entering the straight when asked to respond he was hanging out. However, under the circumstances he did his best. When asked the trainer for his observation he stated that the horse was unsettled for a long time since it was keen. When asked about his pet distance the trainer informed that this horse has previously changed hands of 2 trainers in different centres and has come to him and until now he has not done anything except once in Mysore where he placed in a 1200 metres race. He further stated that he’s a 7 Year old horse and a bleeder the last time out as such he wanted to win some stake money before he retires him in the month of March.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11 January 2018 resolved to suspend Trainer Human Malick with effect wednesday,14^th March 2018 up to and including Monday,19^th March 2018 both days inclusive and further if he applies for a license for the Madras Racing Season 2018-19 it will be granted, however his license will be suspended from 28^th April to 21^st May 2018(both days inclusive) for the infringement of Medication Rules laid down under the Madras Race Club Rules of Racing with respect to his charge “SHIVALIK” (Jockey C.Umesh), winner of the above race whose urine sample tested positive for the presence of “FUROSEMIDE” a prohibited substance by the National Dope Testing Laboratory,  New Delhi, which falls under the category of Class III drugs and was subsequently considered positive as the trainer decided not to send the split sample for confirmatory analysis.

The Stewards further fined Trainer HumaMalick Sum of Rs.5,000/- and disqualified “SHIVALIK”  from1^st Place in the above race and revised order of placings as under:
