Racing Incidents

Trainer K P Singh has been fined Rs.1000/- for bringing his charge, VAZIRABAD, in the Paddock with Blinkers for the use of which no prior permission was obtained. Subsequently, Blinkers were removed.

At the start, MASTER PHOENIX (S Mosin) jumped out awkwardly.
Soon after the start, MURTAJIL (Irfan Khan) was placed awkwardly placed behind the heels of ASHWA GRACE (Muzammil Hashmi) and steadied.

Near 100 metres, MURTAJIL (Irfan Khan) drifted outwards and raced along the outer rails and then trailed the field. Trainer Bharat T Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race and to show the colt to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in Mock race.

Passing 800 metres, due to a tightly packed field and due to lack of room, VAZIRABAD (Praveen Saini) shifted inwards as a result LOVEABLE (Dhanu S Deora) was tightened, who lost position, due to which SACHARINES (Arun Kumar), who was following, was checked and shifted out on to GOLDEN TRESPASS (GS Shekhawat). In this incident, ASHWA GARIMA (Rajinder Saini) was also steadied. As the incident was accidental, no action was initiated against any one.

The veterinary examination of MURTAJIL and MASTER PHOENIX did not reveal any apparent abnormality.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ATTICUS” IN RACE NO 45 – THE ROMANTIC HERO PLATE (DIV-II) - RUN ON 30TH OCTOBER 2018

Trainer H Ali Khan and Jockey S Amjad Kan were questioned regarding the captioned subject matter.

The Instructions to the Jockey were to take a good jump and be in 4th or 5th position and to do his best in the straight. He observed that DANCES AWAY caused interference to ATTICUS at the start and the Jockey had informed him that the horse was not responding despite him doing his best. He submitted that the gelding is a slow starter. The Jockey had niggled the horse and then rode out in the straight. He was satisfied with the riding of the Jockey.

Jockey S Amjad Khan was called in. He confirmed the Instructions. He submitted that he could not follow the instructions as he was interfered by DANCES AWAY and he lost position.

The Race was viewed.

It was put to the Jockey that he had not made efforts to improve his position. Even if his riding effort is disregarded till 500 metres from the start, thereafter he had not ridden out with sufficient vigour in the straight. When asked the Jockey confirmed that his mount was improving in the straight.

His ride on TAKE OVER TARGET (finished 2nd) in Race no 11 and his winning ride on TOM RISK in Race no 19 were viewed and it was pointed that his riding effort was far better in those races as compared to this Race i.e. in race no 45.

To a query, the Trainer stated that the gelding had not won a race in the last two years now and it had come to him recently. He was a blood vessel case.

The Jockey stated if he had put pressure on the gelding from any earlier position, he could have broken a blood vessel again as the gelding was a blood vessel case.

Not being satisfied with the explanation of the Jockey wherein he had failed to persevere with his mount and he has been fined Rs.5000/-.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “HUKANA MATATA” IN RACE NO 54 – THE CLASSIC STORY PLATE (DIV-I) - RUN ON 1ST NOVEMBER 2018

Jockey TS Jodha was questioned on the Race Day wherein he had stated that he found the gelding uncomfortable by its right fore leg during the race, though no abnormality was detected by the Veterinary Officer when examined.

Trainer Zulfiqar Khan when questioned, stated that the instructions were to be in 3rd or 4th, close and do his best in the straight. He added that the fast pace of the race did not suit the gelding. He stated that Jockey had reported to him that when he had asked for an effort from the gelding, he did not get a response.

The Trainer also said that there was a swelling on the right fore leg joint though the gelding was sound and no pain was shown when put pressure, but that area was warm.

He submitted that the gelding does not have initial speed but would get into 3rd or 4th position. The Jockey also reported that he had found the gelding uncomfortable by its right-fore leg. But the gelding was sound.

To a query the Trainer stated that he had fancied the gelding.

The Race was viewed.

The explanation was noted.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “MIDLEXESS” IN RACE NO 52 – THE DIVINE DREAM PLATE - RUN ON 1ST NOVEMBER 2018

Trainer Richpal Singh was questioned regarding the captioned subject matter.

The Trainer submitted that the Instructions were to be in 4th or 5th position and to do his best in the straight and the filly was one paced and not to let her run freely in the early part of the race. He observed that the filly was slowly away as she was leaning on to her Stall. After the race, Jockey Irfan Khan reported to him that the filly was inclined to run out. The Trainer further stated that he examined the filly on the next day afternoon (after morning Work) i.e. on 2nd November and found the filly to be unsound by the right fore leg and had swelling. The filly did not show lameness after the race.

The Veterinary Officer had asked him to ice the concerned leg. Later the filly was treated by the Club’s Veterinary Officer.

To a query, the Trainer submitted that the filly does not have a history of lameness.

The Trainer submitted that the filly was inclined to run out and therefore when he showed unsoundness, he thought that her unsoundness was the reason for her to run out in the race.

Jockey Irfan Khan was called in and he mentioned that after the race he had reported that the filly was inclined to run out during the race. The filly did not respond to his urgings in the straight and he has been riding from 500 metres and in the concluding stages of the race, he let the filly race on her own.

The Race was viewed.

The explanation of the Trainer was noted.
