Trainer Ajith Kumar V was questioned regarding the improved perfomance of WILBUR (P.Sai Kumar)compared to his previous runs in Race No 8 and Race No 43.His explanation was noted and cautioned in future regarding reversal form on his charges.

CONSCIOUS KEEPER (Surya Prakash) jumped out awkwardly on the inside,shieing onto ECLIPSE AWARD (A S .Peter) and onto WILBUR (P.Sai Kumar).The Club's Veterinary Officer when asked to examine the gelding reported after the race that no abnormalities were found.

During the start MON GENERAL (K V Baskar) shied away and had to be steadied.

The Club's Veterinary Officer reported after the race that WINDSOR WALK (C A Brisson) sustained superficial injury on Right hind fetlock.

OPUS ONE (Koshi Kumar)jumped out rearing to the left and reported snapping of left stirrup iron,due to which Jockey Koshi Kumar could not do much assistance on the saddle and ended wide on the track.Since the incident was accidental,no action was initiated.

An Enquiry was opened into the running and riding of GROOVIN ridden by Jockey L.Alex Rozario and trained by Suraj Prasad Shaw                                                                                                     

ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “GROOVIN ” (DRAWN 1) RUN IN RACE NO. 62 - THE ASTRONOMIC HANDICAP DIV( 1 ) DIST. 1200 MTRS.) ON SUNDAY 5-5-24  : In connection with the captioned subject matter the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held after the last race on Sunday 5th May 2024 in the weighing room , Hobart Park, Udhagamandalam  having considered the submissions made by Jockey Alex Rozario  and Trainer Suraj Prasad Shaw and having viewed the video recording of Race No.62.When asked to explain his ride, Jockey L Alex Rozario informed his instructions was to  sit in mid bunch and do his best in the straight he informed  the gelding did not have initial speed and in the straight he gave a crack and collected in the last 150 meters and did his best in the straight. Trainer Suraj Shaw was called and asked to explain Jockey L. Alex Rozario''s ride on his charge "GROOVIN". His instructions  was to take a good jump sit in the mid bunch and to do his best in the straight. When asked by the Stewards, whether he was satisfied with the Jockey''s ride he said he could have ridden better, he had positioned the the horse to a disadvantage  and was not satisfied with the Jockey's ride.

Chief Stipendiary Steward after viewing the video replay explained to Jockey the horse covered  lots of ground and responded well and ran on to finish fourth and he also brought to the attention of the Stewards that Jockey L. Alex Rozario was called during Madras Racing Season 2023-24 to be more careful in his rides and he had warned Jockey Alex Rozario to ride to his best of ability on all his mounts. There being no more questions the Stewards of the Club were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey L.Alex Rosario. They deliberated the matter along with the Chief Stipendiary Steward and decided to  fine Jockey L. Alex Rosario Rs 25,000/- for incompetent riding on his mount “GROOVIN” in Race No 62 who finished 4th. and severely cautioned Jockey L Alex Rozario that in future if he was found guilty of any similar incident/offence stern action would be initiated against him.The Stewards also cautioned Trainer Suraj Shaw to be more careful in running his charges.
