The past week heralded the coming to hand of two classic contenders from S Padmanahan's yard. First, Ice Glacier annexed the Bangalore Oaks, putting paid to doubts over her staying ability. She will now be a live contender for the Indian Derby to be run at Mumbai on the first Sunday of February.
Then, on Sunday his Hall of Famer won the Kolkata Derby with ridiculous ease.
So, now we have three prime contenders for the Indian Derby: Serjeant At Arms, Ice Glacier and Hall of Famer.
I am not sure if Aster Rose poses a danger to the above-named trio.
And Accolade can be now safely written off, I believe.
On the other hand, Silver Beauty comes into the reckoning. She can stay and she can improve.
Proserpine is an unknown quantity and perhaps has the maximum scope for improvement. This one can upset.
And what about Devoted Eyes? A write-off or a hidden horse who may show true colours in the Indian Derby?
So, my slate for the Indian Derby, not in any specific order, is:

1. Serjeant At Arms
2. Hall of Famer
3. Ice Glacier
4. Prosperpine
5. Silver Beauty
6. Devoted Eyes

This is the position at the time of writing. There are two more Derbies to be run between now and the Indian Derby and some new challenger can emerge and throw it's hat in the ring. Let's wait and watch.

Its time for owners to think about investing in training their costly bred horses with rwitc trainers, is it a gud move? Banglore trainers doesnt enjoy the costly got abroad pedigrees like Mumbai trainers still their horses do so well as compaired with mumbai horses.really great job by banglore trainers

BTC must think in terms of conducting races 11 months in a year, with a resting period in April.They have enough horse stock and enormous support from punters all over India.All the non performing Race Clubs will close shop for the good of Racing. Running of Red Divine still fresh in my memory.Formative years of many greats start from Bengaluru only.

Time and again i am stressing Bengaluru is the only center fit enough to conduct Horse Racing.you may face hurdles, but it is few and far between.Curtain down time for RWITC, which swallowed tons and tons of punters money, encouraging practices and efforts detrimental to Horse Racing , by remaining mute and times with tacit approval. Bengaluru punters must avoid completely RWITC, and support BTC while taking on RWITC.

True,Horses in Rwitc are superior in terms of Pedigree and so called Stable masters.BTC and Rwitc both uses their skills, rwitc uses their skill in money making wheras BTC stable masters uses there skills in Horse making.we can see a bright future for BTC in coming yrz.

@athresh agree with you..RWITC is only good in making good horses for short term and later destroying their form for gambling purpose when fancied by punters. Cant see even a single horse from Mumbai who can compete these Banglore based horses in Indian classics this year,this will continue in future as well.
