The full brother to ADMIRALTY,Captain Morgan looks good to lift the Bangalore(in the name of Gudiyappa) Derby to be run on 26Th Jan.'17.
Having fought(although at an weight advantage)well with AZZURO & rest of the field not so great,it should be a hot favourite & should likewise under P.Trevor.
Your views please.

I just wonder even if the entire team & God would have said, I couldn't have backed a maiden in Derby.This may be just a miracle in spite the preparations & all.

Times Of India in its derby write up say rs 29 lakh paid each by 3 horses as final entry.[Can some one give the correct picture since prize money is still around rs 70 lakhs.only

It's been quite a while since I last posted on this forum.
Having had a look at the card, I find no single bet that I can wager with any confidence; maybe the long layoff has made me rusty, nevertheless I'd like to mention my two bit about the Derby.
To start off with, using Major's line of thinking, I'm ignoring the ones with a rating lesser than the field rating of 63, and that leaves me with just Battalion, Captain Morgan, Magistero, and Proserpine, however my final choice is one from outside this list.
Battalion's numbers on the pedigree chart are very strong for the distance, however, for some reason I don't fancy him; probably because he's primarily an Ooty horse. My personal opinion, no offense meant here.
Second on my list is Captain Morgan, and I'm not too impressed by the pedigree numbers, so he's off my list.
Magistero has better numbers than Captain Morgan, so I expect this one to be ahead of CM, that's about it.
And finally, Proserpine, I reckon is the one to fight it out with Magistero for better place stakes.
So, I've discounted all those who figured on my initial list, and that's because there's BOLD MARCH, a Razeen (Damsire) progeny who can land the spoils. No doubt he's 3RP below the field rating, but you can never give up on one with Razeen lineage.

What a pity Looking at the race card with no good horse to mention.It shows the decline in standards of racing in India and in Bangalore i particular. No thrill of the derby

Don't play Captain Morgan for Win and SHP try place or use in Exacta like 4th place.

I agree with Pradeep that Captain Morgan us the horse to beat.With Jockey Trevor to guide him he looks the best in the field. However it would be prudent to discount the timing of Prosperine in the S.I.Oaks as she was competing with Satinette!!Prosperine was never of the bit throughout the race and in all likelihood with jockey Sandesh to guide her she will give the Capt a run for his money.
