08-Feb-2017the best trainer in the Indian Racing Circuit. All the credit for the 2017 Indian Derby winner should go to Paddy.
I do strongly think that Trainer Paddy has understood the correct route for the last 2 years. Win the
Kolkata Derby and move on to the Indian Derby at Mumbai. After all, these two centres are the richest stake
money offered in the Indian Derby Circuit.
Credit to David Allan is there. But credit to Trainer is much more.

07-Feb-2017That's what you are.
Instead of contesting what I have pointed out, you are making personal attacks on me. Contest those points if you can, or quit advertising your ignorance and nasty nature!

06-Feb-2017Many comments & as expected showers of praises for the winner & deservedly too. But mind well that there's always ONE winner. I feel all tried their best & as far as SAA is concerned, going first time over 2400Ms.had it's experience. Critics of Sandesh & few suggesting yo replace him by a foreign jockey have a fixed mindset. Sandy boy gave all what it was worth & required but the shortage of experience over 2400 Ms.may have been his undoing. While Neeraj had a bit of disturbed passge in the straight, the real surprise was Winter Renaissance, ridden by not so great a jockey.
Invitation will be run after almost a month & these small distances betn. the first four can be reversed, as it has happened before at Bangalore.
So keep your fingers crossed for another great showdown in first week of March'17.Fillies always have their own problems & hope both HOF & TEMERITY are kept well on that D day.

06-Feb-2017I was a bit lucky.I changed my mind at the last moment while deciding to wager on SAA!! Instead of the winner I backed Temerity in place at lucrative odds.
If Mr Dhunjibhoy wants to give SAA a good chance in the Invitation; he has to get someone at least of the class of Chris Lumaire. Jockey Sandesh rides like he ought to ride on a class IV animal
I will root for Torrosso in the Invitation!
Once again Congratulations to David for his executing ability.
Cheers

06-Feb-2017The Horse Serjeant stayed or not.I suspect it had nothing in the tank in the final 100 mtrs. When it jumbed out it was moving with Hall of famer for the first 100 mtrs or so then Sandesh settled at fifth or so that was a crucial blunder. He would have allowed to run with the pace, but they were unsure of its stamina over the derby trip.
Finally Jockey David allan was at his best in almost all the recent derbies, see his head almost touching the knees near the winning post, such a vigour.Sandesh still has a lot to learn in big races.A better jockey on both Serjeant and Temerity would have definitley reversed the verdict.

06-Feb-2017You missed to add the distances Hall of Famer had travelled.
It travelled from Punjab (where it was born) to Bangalore (where it started its career). Ofcourse, Tegbir rode him at that time.
Then, Paddy took over and rode him from Bangalore to MYsore and back to Bangalore only on a trot!!!!
Then, Paddy rode him in a canter to Hyderabad and instead of riding her to Mumbai, he rode her back to Bangalore. How foolish... He could have avoided the trip back and this had an affect on the filly... after all she too cannot walk, trot or canter such distances. Therefore, she lost by a short head in Mumbai.
Again, this unlenting Paddy rode her back to Bangalore and nursed. May be the filly is accustomed to the climate of Bangalore. Time and again, she wants to run to Bangalore????
Here, Paddy must have told her that if you do not win in Kolkata and Mumbai, I will make you to swim the Arabian Sea and let you race in Dubai???
This warning worked very well and Hall of Famer ran like a tracing bullet from Bangalore to Kolkata and won by more than eight lengths.
Again Paddy did a mistake... he could have rode her directly from Kolkata to Mumbai. Instead, he again rode her to Bangalore and from there he galloped her to Mumbai. This had a very big affect on her performance. She could only win by ONE length instead of improving on the eight lengths. Guys, please tell Paddy not to make her run from this end of India to that... that too in some places the roads are very bad even though the govt claims to have laid good roads in the golden quadrilateral.
By the way Paddy, have you followed the National Highway in all your journeys on the back of Hall of Famer, or did you take some short cuts. Please tell, otherwise @Blockbusters calculations about the miles travelled by your champion filly will go hay ware.
Anyway, Please congratulate her on her stupendous victory and hope now you will not make her to swim the mighty Arabian Sea!!!!
HAPPY PUNTER

06-Feb-2017Congrats to the owners, trainers, jockeys and breeders of the first three horses/fillies. Well Done.
Blockbuster, you make a very interesting point when you served upthe logistics including travel distances, times spent travelling, racing schedules etc etc.
It is amazing how certain trainers are able to achieve this remarkable feat. Is there something fishy going on ?
Difficult to say anything without proof but what goes around comes around eventually. It's up to the authorities to stay in touch with technology and scientific advances in the equine industry.
In the meanwhile, let us be good sports and compliment the winners.
Well done.

Below is a list of Hall of Famer's travels:
Wins a race in Mysore, travels 720 km to Hyderabad.
Wins a race in Hyderabad in a span of 30 days, travels 700 kms to Mumbai
Runs 20 days after last race, and loses narrowly in Mumbai.
Travels almost 2000 kms and wins a 2400m race by 8 lengths - within 30 days.
Travels back 2000 kms within a month, runs 2400m before 30 days, and beats well rested horses that have not travelled, and are preparing for the D Day and improving. So what sort of nonsense is this? What animal endures such a brutal regimen and show such unbelievable improvement?
Travelling 2000 kms and showing phenomenal improvements of 7-8 lengths!!!! Seems too good to be true. What sort of hanky panky is this and what sort or drug testing is going on in India? This seems to be a classic case of drug induced performance improvement. Such improvements are the hallmark of Mr. Padmanabhan.
His Desert God too raced all around winning at will. In Dubai, it suddenly runs like a donkey. Why?
Clearly, race clubs are missing something.

06-Feb-2017Good observation.
Winter reaissance was also full of running Like Temerity.SAA lookedover in the last 100m.
Temerity should have been pushed as they turned for home. But Neeraj delayed his final assault a vee bit late, may the lon straight stoppedhim from going for the wire.
But nevertheless she ran well

06-Feb-2017Take a bow for this champion "HALL OF FAMER" , giving S.Padmanabhan and David Allan their consecutive Indian Derby win & well done Team !
And a lot of admiration for SERJEANT AT ARMS , you beauty ! He ran an exceptional race.
TEMERITY , she ran her eyeballs out. Finally an epic battle !

06-Feb-2017Godzilla, you were very clear in predicting Hall of Famer's win, thus proving you are a veteran in the field. There were many who ruled out a win for Hall of Famer only because it is a filly. There were also a few others who kept arguing that grey animals hardly win the Derby. However, Padmanabhan's horse proved all of them wrong by staying the distance comfortably. In fact, Serjeant At Arms found it very hard to match strides in the last 100 metres, making it clear that the breed is suited only for a mile or at the maximum 2000m. Those who fancied Salazaar had to blame themselves because the animal ran with a very poor field at Guindy. Those who fancied horses for the sake of jockeys (like Colm O'Donoghue) had to pay a heavy price because time and again it has been proved (maybe, Aslam Khader was the lone exception?) that the merit of a horse is to be taken into primary consideration in any race. Finally, let me say Temerity showed the class by finishing third and thereby silencing all those who said its previous win was a flash in the pan.
